About me and my therapy practice

I am a MBACP Person-Centred Counsellor who provides short and long term counselling for children and young people.

I have worked in schools for over 25 years, and have practised as Counsellor for over 17 years.

Whilst counselling in private practise, I worked for over 17 years as a Learning Mentor and 3 years as a Pastoral Manager/Designated Safeguarding Lead. I currently work as a self-employed school Counsellor in 7 schools.

I have extensive experience of supporting children with a wide range of issues. I have worked with children and young people who have experienced family issues, bereavement and loss, trauma, abuse, low self-esteem, anxiety, self harm, anger/behavioural difficulties, and transition to senior school.

I will not ask the child/young person probing questions, but will offer them a safe and non-judgemental space to allow them the opportunity to work through and explore any difficult feelings or issues that they are experiencing.

Practice description

I have a current valid enhanced DBS certificate (available to view on request).

I am a registered member of the BACP which means I am bound by their Ethical Framework for Good Practise in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I receive ongoing clinical supervision to ensure I abide by the ethical guidelines.

I have an office based in Prescot.

Alternatively, I can travel to schools dependant upon the area. I work in accordance with the schools safeguarding policy.

I offer block booking to schools. Please contact me for further details and costings.

If you have any further questions please message me.

My first session

During the first session, I will introduce myself and discuss a counsellor/client contract. This will outline the length and content of the sessions and explain the legal and ethical boundaries of the counselling relationship.

If the counselling is taking place in a school, it will also explain the limits of confidentiality in accordance with the school safeguarding policy and procedures.
