About me and my therapy practice
I have more than 8 years’ experience helping people find safety, clarity and direction.
If you are reading this, it’s likely you’ve reached the point where you realise that additional help is needed. Perhaps your sense of vitality is diminished, or you hold negative thoughts and feelings about yourself. It may be that memories and patterns from the past hold you back.
Therapy with me is a process of safely bringing this picture into focus. The phrase “Feel it to heal it” is largely true – that is, change comes from feeling your feelings and expressing them, instead avoiding or battling them.
There is much to be gained. A more positive view of yourself and your qualities. The ability to assert yourself in personal and professional relationships. Greater understanding and resilience around painful feelings. An improved sense of how your past continues to influence the present. The list goes on.
I have experience working with issues such as:
• Self-esteem and confidence
• Relationship and family difficulties
• Anxiety
• Depression
• Loneliness
• Loss and bereavement
• Loss of energy, spirit and vitality
• Questions of identity and belonging
• Trauma.
I will be present, consistent and creative in working with you. The ‘offer’ is of an honest, ongoing working relationship where vulnerabilities are safe to express and explore.
Where the feeling of safety in life is an issue (as it is with all traumas) I can bring in an understanding of the role of the nervous system (eg., through Polyvagal Theory) and we can look at your unique situation through this lens and find the resources that can assist you.
Learning to be more present in your life, and more connected to the body (somatic awareness) can, I believe, help everyone.
With some time and space in therapy, comes the chance to work on some of the deeper meanings in your life, such as identity, loss, purpose, and how you would like your future to look.
Practice description
I offer face to face therapy from a private room in Hackney.
This is easily accessible from Stoke Newington, Clapton, De Beauvoir Town, Haggerston, Homerton, Hackney Central, Shoreditch, Liverpool Street and other parts of East London.
I also offer therapy by Zoom and telephone.
The kind of therapy I offer tends to suit a long term, weekly arrangement. However, I can always discuss different arrangements.
My first session
To begin, we can have a 15 minute telephone call (no fee) to discuss your situation and what you are looking for. Or we can agree an initial 50 minute paid consultation session to do the same at greater depth. We can then decide how to proceed.
The first session (or consultation) is a chance to gain a sense of the therapeutic relationship, discuss the areas of your life you would like to work on, and see the therapy room. I can also answer any questions about the way I tend to work.
Feel free to contact me by email or phone.
