About me and my therapy practice

There may be various reasons prompting you to seek therapeutic support. You might be grappling with emotional pain, everyday life challenges, relationship issues, loss, addiction, trauma or experiences of abuse, or you may be on a quest for personal development. I approach each client with individual care, tailoring the therapy to precisely suit your unique needs. I provide a confidential, safe, non-judgmental, and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings. Whether you seek solution-focused therapy or a more extended, open-ended therapeutic journey, my primary motivation is to help you gain a deeper understanding and heightened awareness of the nature and origins of your challenges. My hope is that every client I work with can begin to recognise and harness their inner strengths and abilities, enabling them to shape the life they desire.

I hold qualifications from the Inter-Psyche Training Centre in Kent and Medway NHS. As the founder of Your Path Matters Organisation, my mission is to offer unwavering support to individuals, families, as well as students in schools and colleges grappling with psychological and mental health challenges. My previous roles include working as a psychotherapist in a London NHS GP Practice, as well as serving as a project lead and bereavement therapist at Each Counselling and Psychotherapy Charity, where I provided crucial support to the BAME community affected by the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, I practice within the confines of a private practice, all the while lecturing on Counselling and Psychotherapy at Kent and Medway NHS.

Practice description

I practice as an integrative therapist, offering Counselling and Psychotherapy services both in the vibrant city of London and online. My therapeutic approach is an integration of psychodynamic, existential, cognitive, person-centred, and relational approaches to psychotherapy. While I find the theories underpinning these approaches valuable, I firmly believe that each person's situation is uniquely their own. My primary goal is to support my clients in gaining a deeper understanding of the often-hidden patterns of behaviour that can underlie psychological distress, such as depression and anxiety.

Prior to my training as an integrative therapist, I worked as a Senior Pastoral Director in Sixth Form colleges and boarding schools. In these roles, I provided support to students and their families dealing with emotional challenges, all the while training staff in mental health awareness. Additionally, I served as a trustee on the board of The Breck Foundation, where I actively contributed to raising awareness about online grooming abuse within families and educational institutions.

I hold a comprehensive enhanced DBS check and maintain registered membership with BACP, strictly adhering to the BACP code of ethics.

My first session

I firmly believe in the transformative potential of the therapeutic relationship. It serves as a foundation upon which people can affect meaningful change and acquire valuable therapeutic tools. To me, therapy represents a profound human connection, where many dynamics experienced in the external world are thoughtfully recreated. This safe space that therapy provides affords individuals the opportunity to explore these dynamics and, in turn, apply their newfound understanding, learning, and insight to their daily relationships.

If you find yourself in the process of seeking the right therapist and harbour reservations about scheduling your first session, I extend the offer of an initial, free-of-charge, 20-minute telephone appointment. This affords you the chance to make an informed decision about whether you would like to proceed with booking your first appointment, without any commitment. The first telephone appointment is an optional step, and you may choose to schedule your first face-to-face session directly if you prefer.

It is paramount that both you and I sense a harmonious working relationship. Our initial meeting is an opportunity to explore this vital aspect. It is of fundamental importance that you collaborate with someone who resonates with your needs and with whom you feel genuinely comfortable. For this reason, there is no obligation for you to commit to ongoing therapy when you first reach out to me. The initial session serves as an assessment, during which I will gently inquire about your general experiences to gain insight into your challenges and your unique self. It also offers you a firsthand experience of my therapeutic approach and an opportunity to pose any questions you may have. Should we mutually decide to proceed with ongoing therapy, we can subsequently engage in a discussion regarding a therapeutic contract.
