About me and my therapy practice

Many of the people I work with are used to coping.

They get up, go to work, look after other people and keep things moving, even when internally they feel overwhelmed, anxious, disconnected or exhausted.

Sometimes they know exactly what's wrong but still find themselves repeating the same patterns.

Sometimes they're not even sure why they're struggling because, from the outside, life appears to be functioning well.

As an integrative counsellor, I work with people who want more than reassurance. Together we explore not only what is happening, but why certain thoughts, feelings, behaviours and relationship patterns continue to show up, even when they no longer serve us.

I aim to provide a therapeutic space that is supportive, collaborative and compassionate, while also offering the challenge that meaningful change often requires.

Therapy isn't about fixing what is wrong with you. Often, it's about understanding the strategies that helped you survive, deciding which still serve you and building trust in something different.

Practice description

My approach draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Existential Therapy and Person-Centred principles. In practice, this means I tailor therapy to the individual rather than expecting people to fit a particular model.

I have a particular interest in:

• anxiety and overwhelm

• ADHD and neurodivergence

• recovery from unhealthy coping strategies

• relationship patterns

• people-pleasing and hyper-independence

• recovery following emotionally unhealthy or controlling relationships

I offer both 60min and 90min sessions.

I work both long term and in time limited sessions with clients depending on need.

I also offer 1 off (SST) sessions.

I charge on a sliding scale in accordance with income beginning with my concession fee (£30) up to my maximum fee (£105).

My first session

I offer a free 15min intro call via zoom in order to allow us to get a sense of fit and to allow for any questions that may arise.

I then check in 24hrs later to see if the client want to progress.

The first full session takes the form of an overview where we have a chance to think about what I need to know, what has been happening for the client and what they want to get out of the process.

About me and my therapy practice

Life is filled with trials and tribulations that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and unable to see the potential for growth. Research and experience tell us that having a safe, accepting and curious space to explore how the events of our lives shape how we live our lives can aid understanding, self-acceptance and growth.

As an integrative counsellor with many years of community engagement and family support work behind me I draw inspiration from many sources to ensure support that is tailored to the needs of each individual client.

I believe that we all have the capacity to find the answers and solutions to the aspects of our life we want to change. In engaging with ideas and strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Existential Therapy and Philosophy and by creating an environment of acceptance I will work collaboratively with you to uncover and explore your therapeutic priorities.

As a counsellor I endeavour to facilitate a safe, supportive yet challenging space where we can collaboratively gain insight and understanding around whatever presents as a priority for you.

My first session

I offer an initial 20 minute introduction session (via Zoom) free of charge to give you an opportunity to gain a sense of whether you would like us to work together.

I will then make contact with you 24 hours later so you have a chance to make the best decision for you.
