About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome, my name is Isabel, and I am based in Arundel and at Bognor in West Sussex, and also see clients online. I specialise in Trauma - Developmental, PTSD and Complex PTSD, and Neurodivergence. I offer counselling to suit your needs either face to face or online at a time and pace that works for you.

Life can be challenging and counselling can provide a supportive, safe, and confidential space to explore relationships and events in our lives that might make us feel overwhelmed or helpless. Taking to a trained and experienced professional can help us make sense of our experiences and find ways to move towards a more settled and secure future. The journey can help you have a greater understanding of yourself and fresh perspectives enabling you to build resilience and make meaningful choices that work for you.

Practice description

I recognise that one size does not fit all, and we will work together to consider the right approaches, techniques and processes for you, work at a pace that works for you, and help you put effective strategies in place to deal with the feelings of depression and anxiety that often accompany trauma. My special interests are working with issues around confidence and self-esteem, and developing a strong sense of self. Sometimes struggles around these issues mean you can feel isolated, unappreciated, and unheard. In our sessions, you can explore why you experience these feelings, and I can help you find your inner voice so you can start to lead the life you want. Honouring and valuing your uniqueness and finding your place in the world.

If you would like to know more about therapy and how a confidential and safe space where you can feel free to express and explore your experiences can help you gain a sense of closure and find ways forward.

My first session

I offer an informal initial call or Zoom session for up to 30 minutes, this is an opportunity to understand where you are and how you hope I can help you.  It is also an opportunity for you to get a feel of how it would be to work with me.

From there if we agree to work with each other our first session will be to undertake a thorough assessment, and this may be longer than our usual sessions.

Alongside my Private Practice, I volunteer with Frontline 19, providing counselling to NHS and other frontline staff.  I am a Counselling Tutor and have many years of experience as a trainer and coach. I am a BACP registered therapist and adhere to their Ethical Framework, and have regular supervision to support my safe practice as a counsellor.

My first session

I know from personal experience taking that first step can be daunting as my recent client N.H. shared ‘Thank you so much for your help and support and for being a kind and compassionate listening ear. Being able to speak openly to you has hugely alleviated the worries that I had been carrying. You’ve given me the practical tools and kind words that I needed to start living in the present again, and I can’t thank you enough.’ Having someone there for you can make a huge difference. Please do get in touch by email or phone and I am very happy to have an initial chat to go through how Counselling would work for you, and to understand what you would like to get out of it. I look forward to hearing from you!
