About me and my therapy practice

I am Gen, a fully qualified, BACP Accredited Humanistic-Existential Counsellor.

My own multi-cultural background and my lived experience of adaptation and loss in different countries helps me gain deeper insight into the ways that clients cope with transition, changes and loss. Throughout my life and different careers, I came to understanding that purpose and meaning of life continually change.

My drive to become a therapist comes not just from my own experience of therapy, but from navigating the world as a neurodivergent person. As a child, I felt overwhelmed, different, weird, rejected and not “good enough,” without fully understanding why. Starting my therapy was a turning point — I knew something needed to change.

I help people to find acceptance and a meaningful way forward. I am here to encourage you on your journey to overcome a stressful period by providing a safe space where you can gain clarity. Working together in therapy I guide my clients to explore the source of their issue and help them to find solutions to overcome their problems.

As a non-diagnosed neurodiverse therapist, I bring both professional training and lived experience into my work. I understand the journey of recognition, diagnosis, grief, and acceptance that can come with discovering your neurodivergence later in life. I also understand how complex it can feel to make sense of yourself in a world that often expects you to fit a mould.

In facing various life stages, relocation, and personal losses, I have understood the profound importance of talking therapy. The act of sharing and finding meaning in our existence is crucial. My experience enables me to support and empower others on their individual journeys. This support involves healing, personal development, managing life's difficulties, or finding meaning in their circumstances.

Practice description

Therapy isn’t a quick fix—it takes time, patience, and courage. Taking that first step can feel difficult, especially if you’ve spent years putting yourself last. But creating space to understand yourself, in a way that honours how your mind works, can be truly life-changing.

People who maintain a healthy balance in this way are motivated to make decisions that can positively impact their lives, as well as the lives of their loved ones. Though these people may not know how their decisions will actually turn out, they do appreciate the need to take action while they can.

I practice a non –judgemental, respectful and empathetic approach as I believe this creates a safe environment in which we can work together to explore and examine any difficult feelings and problematic issues that may be causing you distress.

I'm interested in hearing about how you’ve experienced the world around you, including important relationships and events that have shaped you. I'll listen carefully and ask gentle and respectful questions in order to discover the strengths and resources you have inside you, working compassionately with the issues that matter to you.

We will build a safe and trusting relationship together, so that you feel able to talk about your concerns without being judged and so we can discover what might be lying underneath the issues that brought you to therapy.

You may want the opportunity to be heard, to explore thoughts, feelings and fears or look at new ways to find perspective, gain self-assurance and the possibility of making new, emotionally-secure choices. I also offer telephone counselling.

Everything discussed is treated in the strictest confidence.

My first session

In my private practice I work online through secure video platforms. I see clients for 50 minutes counselling sessions on a weekly basis. We can meet for short-term therapy to address specific issues or on a long-term basis for a deeper exploration of key issues and healing over time at a pace that’s comfortable for you.

Working online (video sessions) offers many advantages to you as a client including:

• You can choose the right therapist for you, rather than having to pick from those closest to you geographically (although please note I only work with clients based in the UK).

• You can be comfortable in your own surroundings with no need to travel to a counsellor’s premises, and may feel safer and more at ease to talk.

• Physical disabilities or psychological difficulties are no barrier to you getting the support you need.

If you are interested in working with me then I invite you to get in touch to have a free 20 minutes introductory phone call or video call. This allows you to tell me a little bit about your difficulties and ask me any questions about the way I work. This will give us both a chance to decide if working together would be a good fit for you.

About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Yevgeniya (Gen)

I’m the founder of Meaningful Life Counselling. I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted.

I work with adults experiencing **ADHD and neurodivergence**, using a **neurodiversity-affirming, person-centred approach**. I believe you don’t need to be “fixed”. Together, we can explore how you experience the world, understand what may be getting in your way, and find ways forward that feel meaningful to you.

As a neurodivergent person myself, I understand what it can feel like to grow up feeling different, overwhelmed or “not good enough”. My own experience of therapy helped me untangle shame and self-doubt and realise that I wasn’t broken — I was simply navigating a world that didn’t always understand me.

I also bring a multicultural perspective, shaped by my mixed-race background and previous careers in art, teaching and interpreting. These experiences have taught me to approach each person with curiosity and without assumptions.

Whether you’re struggling with ADHD, self-esteem, relationships, emotional overwhelm, life changes or simply feeling stuck, therapy can offer a space to pause, understand yourself and reconnect with what matters to you.

You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin.

Practice description

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. Perhaps you’ve spent years putting other people first, keeping things together for everyone else, or trying to manage on your own. Maybe you know something needs to change, but you’re not sure where to begin.

You don’t need to have all the answers before you come to therapy.

I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, feel heard and begin to make sense of what you’re experiencing. My aim is to create a space where you can be yourself, without having to pretend that everything is okay.

I take a person-centred and collaborative approach. Rather than making assumptions about what you need, I take time to understand you — your experiences, relationships, challenges, strengths and what matters to you. Together, we can explore what feels important, at a pace that feels manageable and safe.

You don’t need to know the “right” things to say. You don’t need a diagnosis or a perfectly formed explanation of what is wrong. You can simply start with what’s happening for you, and we can begin there.

Where helpful, I also draw on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) tools and techniques. These can help you understand the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviours, recognise patterns and explore different ways of responding.

I don’t believe therapy is about fitting you into a particular model. It’s about working alongside you, helping you understand yourself more clearly and supporting you to find a way forward that feels right for you.

Sometimes we need space to understand the past. Sometimes we need help with what is happening now. And sometimes we simply need someone to listen without judgement.

Whatever has brought you here, you don’t have to work through it alone.

If you’re wondering whether therapy might be right for you, you don’t need to decide everything today. Sometimes the first step is simply having a conversation.

We can begin wherever you are.
