About me and my therapy practice

Life can be difficult, and the stories we tell ourselves can often limit and block us in leading the life we truly want to lead. As an Integrative Psychotherapist, I draw on a variety of different approaches, to assist you in meeting your particular needs and goals. I use the relationship we gradually build together to shine a light on understanding other relationships in your life, to better understand yourself, and develop the resources to live more authentically.

My experience in the mental health field spans several years and includes working as a counsellor in different areas. I have experience working with adults in an NHS secondary mental health service working with trauma. I also have experience and training in working with bereavement and loss and supporting students with stress, anxiety, and depression in a diverse university counselling service.

As a parent, I fully appreciate the challenges this role can often bring. I draw on this, as well as knowledge gained in an NHS perinatal service, to work with issues such as pre-and post-natal depression and anxiety, parental identity issues, and difficult birth experiences. My Master’s research focused on women’s experience of post-natal depression.

I trained at The Minster Centre and hold a Diploma, an Advanced Diploma and an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from Minster Centre, London. I am also a fully trained EMDR Therapist.

As a UKCP accredited, BACP registered,  Psychotherapist, I abide fully by their ethics, ensuring safe practise. I hold an enhanced DBS, full insurance, and undertake regular professional supervision to ensure I am offering the highest standard of support to my clients.

Please contact me to discuss your support needs, and to explore how I could help. Confidential messages can be sent to me via email.

Practice description

I believe there is no 'one-size fits all' in therapy. As an Integrative Psychotherapist, my approach is tailored to each individual client, drawing on different approaches and theoretical models to work on the issues each client brings. Through therapy we can work together to enable you to explore, and perhaps challenge, old ways of thinking and relating in a safe, non-judgemental environment.

Perhaps you're feeling stressed or numb, like you're going through the motions in life, but can't make sense of it. Whatever brings you to therapy, we can explore together in a safe, non-judgemental environment. Working together, we can explore what is affecting you, bringing new insights, potential and growth.

I offer both short-term and open-ended therapy depending on your individual needs and the issues being worked on. Therapy sessions are 50 minutes and take place weekly. Sessions can be in-person or online, or a mixture of the two if that is better for you.

I work from a calm, comfortable therapy room in two locations: a group psychotherapy practice (One Two Five Therapy Rooms), and my home practice which is located nearby. Both locations are easily accessible by local bus and tube routes and 10 minutes' walk from Finsbury Park tube station.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation, followed by an assessment of approximately 50 minutes for £85. This can be either face-to-face or online.

These appointments allow us the chance to meet, find out what's brought you to therapy and answer any questions you might have.

After the initial assessment, my fee is £85 for each weekly, 50 minute therapy session. EMDR processing sessions are a minimum of 75 minutes and are charged accordingly. Session fees are payable by direct bank transfer after each session.

About me and my therapy practice

Welcome! My name is Kirsten and I am a UKCP accredited, Integrative Psychotherapist and EMDR Therapist, in Finsbury Park, North London.

Life can be difficult, and the stories we tell ourselves can often limit and block us in leading the life we truly want to lead. As an integrative therapist, I draw on a variety of different approaches, to assist you in meeting your particular needs and goals. I use the relationship we gradually build together to shine a light on understanding other relationships in your life, to better understand yourself, and develop the resources to live more authentically.

In addition to my private practice, I have worked with adults in an NHS secondary care mental health service, which specialised in trauma. I also have experience working in a bereavement service supporting clients with all forms of loss.

In addition, I worked in a London university counselling service, where I supported students from diverse backgrounds with stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem and identity issues.

I have a particular interest in supporting parents. As a parent, I fully appreciate the challenges this role can bring. I draw on this, as well as knowledge gained in an NHS Perinatal service, to work with perinatal issues and parenting challenges.

I support parents in all life stages, whether struggling with a difficult birth experience, the transition to parenthood, experiencing post-natal depression (PND), or post-natal anxiety. I also work with parents overwhelmed with the challenges of supporting a child with ADHD, anxiety or other challenges.

I offer a down-to-earth, non-judgemental approach, grounded in the fundamental belief that we all have the capacity for healing, change and growth. Whether processing traumatic or difficult life experiences, grieving a loss or seeking to improve your connection to yourself and others, I am here to support you, at your own pace.

I am a UKCP accredited Psychotherapist and BACP registered, and abide fully by their ethics.
