About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I am Sophie - I am a fully registered and accredited MBACP psychotherapist. While I work with a broad range of concerns, my main areas of focus are trauma therapy, working therapeutically with adolescents and young adults, and supporting former boarding school pupils. I hold a postgraduate diploma with distinction in Trauma Therapy from The Naos Institute, alongside additional specialist trainings, which together shape my work.

A central part of my practice is supporting young people as they navigate the emotional, relational, and developmental challenges of adolescence and early adulthood. My background includes five years working in the NHS within CAMHS, followed by time as a sixth-form college counsellor. This experience allows me to accompany young people through periods of transition, identity formation, and the often complex pressures they face. I continue to offer therapy to young people age 16 and up, although my availability for work with U18's is more limited.

I also work with former boarding school pupils. Having completed Nick Duffell’s specialist diploma in psychotherapy with ex-boarders, I have developed an understanding and expertise that significantly informs my work with ex-boarders. I integrate this understanding within a trauma-informed framework, supporting clients to explore early separation, relational adaptations, and the internal dynamics that may arise from institutional experiences.

Alongside these areas, I have experience working with alcohol and addiction-related issues, including supporting family members affected by someone else’s addiction. Drawing on my previous work as a birth doula, I also support women and men in processing the emotional and psychological dimensions of pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. I additionally work with individuals adapting to health-related or life-stage changes.

Please feel free to email me if you would like any further information or you would like to book a session or an intro call.
