Availability

I currently have availability for new individual and couple clients.

I offer in-person sessions in Highbury, Islington (Highbury Crescent, N5) on Monday and Tuesday afternoons.

I offer in-person sessions in Kentish Town, Camden (Leighton Road, NW5) on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons and Thursday evenings.

I offer online (phone and video) sessions at the above times and on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.

To allow greater flexibility I also offer a combination of online and in-person sessions.

I encourage people to attend counselling on the same day at the same time each week. This is because regular therapy is often the most effective way to make a positive change. I offer time-limited therapy and open-ended therapy with regular reviews to make sure that we're both satisfied with how the work is going.

About me and my therapy practice

I’m a counsellor and therapist who values authenticity, kindness, curiosity, fairness, and variety. I worked in the music industry for many years, supporting artists, connecting people and overseeing creative projects. My own experience of therapy encouraged me to explore new ways to support others. I continue to work with many creative people, including music and media professionals, as a counsellor and therapist.

I gained my professional qualifications from my local college before undertaking specialist training in working with relationships and couples. I've been awarded accredited status by my professional body, which is a quality mark for ethical and professional standards. Further training has focussed on bereavement, attachment and mentalising, domestic abuse and sexual violence, and equality and inclusivity.

I believe that looking to our past experiences, environment and relationships helps us make changes in the present; that getting to know ourselves in a new way can give us more choice over how we think, feel and behave. I believe that you are best placed to know yourself and that my role is to support you to get to where you want to be. I believe your relationship with a therapist can show how you relate to other people in your life.

I’ve worked for MIND and the NHS, providing counselling around life challenges and common mental health problems. I’ve also volunteered at Solace Women’s Aid, acting as a first point of contact for those experiencing Domestic Abuse and Sexual Violence. I currently work with Relate, supporting couples who want to make changes to their relationships.

Practice description

I offer in-person counselling in North London in Kentish Town, Camden (NW5) and Highbury, Islington (N5). This can work well if you want to talk in a neutral space, away from your home and everyday life. I offer online counselling for those who prefer to communicate by phone or video. This can work well if you have access to a quiet space where you can talk privately and without interruptions.

Those I work with often have high expectations for themselves, are problem-solvers, feel different from those around them, are driven and have many interests, feel guilty about putting themselves first, don’t want to rely on or burden others, don’t always understand their feelings, and like to challenge themselves.

I work with individuals who experience anxiety, stress, overwhelm and relationship challenges. I support people to build awareness, confidence, self-worth, and self-care. I work with people to make meaningful changes by challenging their fears, doubts and criticisms and by drawing on their courage, curiosity and compassion.

I work with couples and pairs who experience conflict, disconnect, blocks to sex and intimacy, and attachment challenges. I support couples to build awareness, understanding, trust, and healing. I work with people to make meaningful changes to their relationships through shared goals and expectations, commitment, and clear communication.

I’m committed to putting your wellbeing and choices at the centre of any work we do together. Past clients have described feeling heard and understood, supported without judgement, better able to understand and express themselves, feeling confident and resourceful, and empowered by change having come from them.

My first session

If you’re interested to work with me, the first step is usually to send me a message. I will then share my current availability and, if this matches yours, we will arrange an initial conversation. This is a moment to exchange information, discuss how we might work together, and get a feel for what it’s like to talk. This conversation would be at no cost and with no pressure to commit to further sessions.

During an initial conversation you would tell me whatever you choose to share about what brings you to therapy and what you’d like to change. I’ll also ask about different areas of your life, to understand how a piece of therapeutic work would fit into the bigger picture. This might include asking about your living situation, friends and family relationships, work/study, leisure activities, and any other areas you think are important.

At the end of an initial conversation we would usually discuss practicalities such as when and where therapy would take place, frequency of sessions, and fees. If I feel that you’re looking for something that doesn’t fit with the way I work, or that you might benefit from another type of support, I will share this. I will follow up by email to confirm what we’ve discussed, so you have something to refer to later on.

Please also feel free to visit my website where you can find resources on therapy and wellbeing, including blogposts, playlists, and reviews of products, books, and media.
