About me and my therapy practice
Overview
I am an experienced, BACP Accredited Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, working with couples and individuals. I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, bereavement, career issues and relationships.
My training includes CBT, Solution Focussed Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis. I combine these models so that I can offer therapy that's tailored to you.
At the start of our work, we'll identify what you want to achieve from counselling. Whether your aims are abstract or specific, we can work towards them together.
I'm versatile and responsive and I'll work in a way that's beneficial to you. Sometimes it's enough to hear yourself out loud, to feel witnessed and understood. I also offer challenge, observation and psycho-education. I may suggest activities to complete at home. I integrate emotional exploration alongside a practical, solution-focussed approach.
As a therapist, I'm warm, active and dynamic. Our sessions will be a two way exchange. I'll work at your pace and offer you a safe, confidential setting. Whether you're attending individually or as a couple, I offer a space for exploration and discovery. Counselling can help you to clarify what you want to change, and support you in making those changes happen.
Practical information
I offer face to face counselling at New Road Psychotherapy. The building is conveniently located in the centre of Brighton and the rooms are bright and welcoming. I also work on Zoom or on the phone.
Sessions are charged at:
- £65 for individuals (50 minutes)
- £95 for couples (50 minutes)
- £140 for couples (75 minutes)
I have particular experience in the following areas:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Bereavement
- Transitional life events
- Chronic pain
- Life-altering illness
- Relationship difficulties and family relationships
- Challenges of young adulthood
I am fully ensured and adhere to BACP's ethical framework. I have also worked in a non-therapeutic role, with women who have experienced domestic abuse.
Practice description
Individual therapy
We'll focus on whatever feels helpful for you. You might wish to explore how your history or childhood affects you now, and perhaps question old beliefs or patterns of behaviour. You might need compassionate support, or space to talk about what's happening for you right now.
I'll also be sensitive to any contextual issues you want to look at, whether they're day to day, existential, political or environmental.
At the start of our work, we'll talk about what you'd like to get from counselling. This might be something very specific or it may be more abstract. It's also fine if you don't know what you'd like to achieve, or don't want to work with any kind of goal in mind. I want to be as useful to you as possible, so from time to time, we'll take a look at how you feel our sessions are going.
I bring my real self to our work and I'll be alongside you, to notice, reflect, listen, empathise and gently challenge. I'll offer you a safe and confidential space to explore the changes you wish to make.
Relationship Therapy
As a Relationship Therapist, I am flexible and responsive to how you want to work as a couple. Couples' sessions are either weekly or every other week.
In my work with couples I may:
- witness and facilitate difficult conversations between you
- share with you how I observe the relationship between you
- explore how each of your childhoods and/or previous relationships may affect your relationship
- offer psycho-education
- suggest exercises and tasks to work on at home between sessions.
As a Relationship Therapist, my focus is on how you are together; I work on the assumption that as a couple, it's likely that you're jointly responsible for the challenges you face, and that jointly, you'll be working together, - each making some changes, and listening to the other's perspective - to improve your relationship.
My first session
Because I know it's important for you to choose the right therapist to work with, I offer an initial session free of charge.
Our first meeting will last up to 50 minutes. This is a chance for me to find out what you'd like to get from counselling. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions and to see if you feel I'm a good fit for you as a therapist.

Abuse, AIDS/HIV, Anxiety, Bereavement, Cancer, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Cultural issues, Depression, Disability, Health related issues, Identity issues, Infertility, Loss, Menopause, Men's issues, Obsessions, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Spirituality, Stress, Trauma, Women's issues, Work related issues

About me and my therapy practice
I'm a BACP Accredited, Humanistic Integrative counsellor and supervisor. I'm warm, approachable, authentic and dynamic. In my supervisory work, I aim to offer support, encouragement and helpful challenge.I view the supervisory relationship as a safe, collaborative space where you can reflect on your interventions and the theoretical basis for your work, explore unconscious processes between you and your clients or discuss your professional development and training. We might also look at working creatively, review the development of your practice, explore ethical issues, or take note of how you are caring for yourself.
I work with a blend of Gestalt, TA and Person Centred Approach, and am also informed by Attachment Theory, Clarkson’s Five Relationship Model and Egan’s Solution Focussed model.
My specialisms are bereavement, anxiety, family conflict, relationships and depression.
I also have particular interest in supporting therapists in the practical, developmental and psychological aspects of transitioning from trainee to private practitioner.
I am offering supervision at a reduced fee until the end of 2024, while I work towards my Diploma in Supervision
