About me and my therapy practice

TESTIMONIAL by SH:

'Mou,

It has been a long time since…our last session, but I still remember everything we talked about... I wanted to give a huge thank you for the life-changing work you do.

I feel better, my relationships, work and home life have improved... Truly, I can't thank you enough and I'll keep that all with me forever.

I am a registered BACP integrative psychotherapist. Working integratively means I can utilise a wide range of approaches to support you with the issues you are struggling with, ensuring my work is tailored to meet your unique needs.

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with an extensive range of client struggles.

These are to name a few of my particular areas of experience are with clients who suffer from Anxiety and Stress, Addictions, Bereavement, Body Image, Behaviour Change, Childhood Impact, Cancer, Chronic Health Conditions, Crossroads in life, Depression, Family Conflict, Loneliness, Low Mood, Low Self Esteem, Negative Thought Patterns, Suicidal thoughts, Systems Of Oppression, Relationships and Traumatic Events.

MY APPROACH

You are in very capable hands. I am warm in approach and will take you very seriously, thoughtfully, skilfully and add humour, when appropriate in our work together.

MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE

- PLANTING SEEDS OF CHANGE…TO THRIVE…NOT JUST TO SURVIVE

As a brown skin tone woman, I have faced many adversities in our institutional systems from childhood into adulthood. Psychotherapy was a life line for me, it has allowed me to not only to come to terms with living in this world, but more than that, to thrive.

Before becoming a therapist, I trained in Education utilised those transferable skills in the Commercial and the Charity Sector, supporting others to be seen, heard, understood and met.

Transitioning to become a therapist, I have found my calling and have never looked back. It is such a great privilege to in turn help my clients to make sense of their world and thrive too.

TESTIMONIAL by FS

'I believe in life that some things are meant to be, and I was meant to find Mou... Her nurturing and patience have helped me to improve my emotional wellness and given me…confidence... Her collaborative approach and understanding has definitely helped me to get the most out of…therapy.'

Having therapy with me is an opportunity for you to express yourself with someone who isn’t going to judge you, who will meet you where you are. Allow you the space to explore without you having to look after my feelings. Having a place where you can start to connect with what you need. To make sense of what’s causing you pain and discomfort. This process of expressing yourself in therapy with me can be priceless, liberating and transforming.

I have worked in a variety of settings, from the NHS, University and in Private Practice.

I hold a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from The Minster Centre, one of the UK’s leading Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy training institute.

My first session

I understand it can be unbelievably daunting taking the first step finding a therapist for numerous reasons…

Will I understand and be able to support you through the struggles you are facing and that you have possibly not shared with anyone before?

And of course, there are so, so many therapists out there, how will you know I am the right one for you in this moment?

My answer to the above questions are firstly, we can have 20 minute free phone consultation to see if we could be a potential match for your needs and take it from there….

The first two sessions we will have together will be information gathering (what is formally called the assessment, I ask questions, you speak and I write some notes).

The third session onwards is much more organic, the therapeutic dialogue where you let me know what’s on your mind and where you would like to go.

How may I help you?

Looking forward to connecting with you.

Warmly,

Mou
