About me and my therapy practice
We can all experience difficulties and challenges in life and you may be feeling anxious, uncertain, and overwhelmed by thoughts and feelings in relation to current or past events in your life.
At times like these it can be supportive to talk to an experienced psychotherapist who will provide a confidential space where you can talk and wont feel judged. And be with someone who has the skills to support you explore your thoughts, behaviours and feelings to help you understand yourself better, support you to develop resources, see things from a new perspective and maybe learn a greater acceptance.
From experience I know it can be a difficult decision to choose a therapist so I will tell you a little about how I practice and my background.
Who I work with
I work with adults and couples (18+) who experience a wide range of emotional and relational challenges.
These include anxiety, work related stress, depression, grief, loss, challenging relationships , struggling to find self-confidence or sense of worth, or navigating a life transition, unresolved trauma, feeling stuck or lost.
eg
Relationships - family, friends, work colleagues, partner
You may ask yourself:
“I don’t know why we always argue?”
“I’m wondering about my attachment style, why do I choose the wrong people, is it my fault?”
“Why do I always ignore the red flags?”
“I feel so guilty. Can our relationship recover from the affair?”
Low self-esteem/low self-confidence.
You may think:
“Why do I worry all the time about what other people think of me?”
“My childhood was perfect so why do I feel like this”
“Why do I find it so difficult to make decisions in my life”
“Why do I feel so ashamed?”
Life Transitions / Identity
You may wonder:
“I don’t recognise myself now I’m a mother. Is this normal?”
“Why do I feel so overwhelmed the whole time?” How will I cope?
“I’m frightened I’m going to behave like my mother/father.”
“I feel frightened about getting older and I don’t know how to manage this and who I am anymore"
Practice description
My background
My career was originally in the corporate world and then in the early 2000’s I retrained as a Montessori nursery school teacher and after that volunteered at a charity called Homestart. I had therapy in my late 30s and, later in life, reflecting on my positive therapeutic experience training to become a psychotherapist seemed a natural progression from nurturing children to supporting adults emotionally and practically.

How I work
I have over 10 years’ client experience and am a UKCP accredited humanistic psychotherapist. I offer warm, non-judgemental therapy tailored to your needs, from the foundation of my personal values of integrity, respect, kindness, fairness and trustworthiness.
I meet each person with the belief we are all different although we might have common desires: a wish to belong, to connect with others, to feel valued, to be seen, to be heard and we have a responsibility to ourselves as well as to others, and the world around us.
We would talk about what’s happening in your life now, what happened in the past, your childhood, your thoughts and feelings around these subjects, and your hopes for the future.
There might be things you haven’t talked about before and I aim to offer you a space where you feel safe enough to talk and to say what might feel unsayable, but important. Sometimes you might not find the words so we’d take time to explore what you’re grappling with.
I will support you to gain insight into recurring unhelpful patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviour . Therapy will help you see what is unhelpful and where you have choices to make changes to live a more authentic life.
We can talk about coping strategies and techniques:- grounding and breathing techniques, explore your bodily sensations and feelings, to support your emotional regulation if you're comfortable with this.
I don’t tell you what to do but I invite you to see new perspectives so you can make authentic choices.
My first session
Getting started begins with a simple, no obligation step.
Initial contact:
1. Email or call to arrange a 15 minute phone chat (free) . We will discuss and check both our availability, what you hope to achieve and ensure I am the right fit for your needs.
2. We schedule your first session to explore your goals with no long-term commitment required.
Our First Session – what will it be like?
You may arrive knowing where you want to start or you may be uncertain. You may want to start talking or you may want me to ask you questions; there is no right or wrong way of doing therapy. Additionally, it is an opportunity for you to see if you like the way we work together.
We will talk about your reasons for coming to therapy, and what you’re hoping for. Previous clients have talked about untangling their thoughts or getting to the roots of something. Whatever it is, we will work together to find a way forward and a way to develop a space where you can talk freely without feeling judged.
