About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Michael Blades
I'm a registered Psychotherapist, full member of the UKCP and member of the BACP (MBACP).
I work with people who sense that something in their inner life needs closer attention — whether that shows up as anxiety, uncertainty, repeating patterns, or a quieter feeling that they’ve lost connection with something important within themselves. You might even be managing a full and busy life while privately noticing tensions, questions or emotions that don’t easily settle.
My approach is steady and depth-oriented. I’m interested in what sits beneath everyday experience — the emotional, relational and historical layers that shape how you move through the world, as well as the parts of you that seek meaning, direction or a deeper coherence. Together we create a space where these aspects of your inner life can be explored and understood in a grounded, thoughtful way.
I offer therapy in person in Middlesbrough and online, for both short- and longer-term work, from a private and accessible practice space at Acklam Hall.
If you’d like to get a sense of whether we’d work well together, you’re welcome to get in touch.
Practice description
I work with adults who are open to engaging with their inner world with honesty and curiosity. This includes people experiencing anxiety, identity concerns, emotional numbness or overwhelm, long-standing patterns, or a sense that something significant is shifting beneath the surface.
My style suits those who appreciate a calm, reflective process and who feel drawn to working at depth, whether or not they have language for that yet.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet, talk about what brings you to therapy, and get a sense of whether working together feels right. It’s a gentle introduction rather than an assessment or test — a space where you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.
