About me and my therapy practice

Me and My Practice

Perhaps things feel overwhelming, you’re worried about your teenager, or you’ve spent long looking after others that your needs have slipped out of sight. You might know what you want help with, or feel that something isn’t right. You don’t need the right words or a clear place to start.

Hi, I’m Louise, or The Kingston Therapy Space, a BACP-accredited integrative therapist working with teenagers aged 11+, young adults, parents and women in midlife. I offer a welcoming space where you can speak honestly, feel understood and explore what matters to you.

Over the past decade, I’ve worked in the NHS, specialist agencies, schools and private practice. I have specialist training and experience in neurodiversity, particularly ADHD, and disordered eating. I’m also a parent with teenagers of my own, and neurodiversity is part of my family life. These experiences shape the understanding I bring, while leaving room for your life to be different from mine.

Teenagers aged 11–18

School, friendships and fitting in can feel overwhelming. We can explore anxiety, low mood, identity, relationships, body image, eating difficulties or difficult feelings. We can talk or use creative activities, at your pace.

Young adults aged 18–25

University, work, leaving home and relationships can bring uncertainty. You might feel overwhelmed or unsure where you belong. We can explore your needs and build confidence.

Parents

You can love your child and still feel exhausted or unsure how to help. I support parents of teenagers and neurodivergent children, including those with ADHD or autism. There’s room for your feelings, whether you’re navigating conflict, seeking support, managing burnout or losing sight of yourself.

Women in midlife

You may be keeping life going but feeling less like yourself. We can explore relationships, caring responsibilities, the emotional impact of perimenopause and menopause, confidence, identity and purpose. We can explore recognising ADHD or autism in midlife.

Practice description

How I work

My approach is integrative, trauma-informed and neurodiversity-affirming. I explore your experiences, how your mind works and what helps you feel comfortable.

We can explore past experiences, relationships and ways to manage anxiety, stress and overwhelm. We can talk, draw, use miniatures or try creative activities. No artistic ability is needed.

I bring warmth, curiosity and care, with room for tears, laughter and silence. You can disagree or say when something isn’t helping. We’ll review our work together.

ADHD and neurodiversity

ADHD can affect emotions, relationships, self-esteem, attention and organisation. Masking and feeling misunderstood can leave you exhausted or self-critical.

With or without a diagnosis, we can explore your experiences, including recognising ADHD later in life. We can work on intense emotions, strengths, self-compassion and managing overwhelm.

Privacy and trust

I’ll explain confidentiality and its limits when we begin, including when safety concerns may mean information needs to be shared.

Privacy helps teenagers build trust. We’ll discuss parents’ involvement and how to share practical information while respecting your teenager’s privacy. I won’t routinely report what they say. If safety concerns require someone else’s involvement, I’ll speak with your teenager first wherever possible and appropriate.
