About me and my therapy practice
I am in integrated Psychotherapist with a special training in Sex and porn addiction Therapy. I trained with Dr Paula Hall and the late Dr Thaddeus Birchard.
I work with people who are struggling with compulsive/addictive behaviours and partners who have been impacted by the behaviour.
I have a special interest in working with Clients who have a Christian world view. I am an Accredited member of ACC and ATSAC
Practice description
I hope to provide a therapeutic space which feels authentic warm relational and helpful. My approach hopefully will help you connect to, and not suppress emotions, discover a more healthy stable sense of self, have a healthier relationship with yourself and others, and get freedom from Old limiting patterns of behaviour.
I encourage self compassion and how to foster emotional resilience. My approach is holistic, encompassing your felt, somatic sense, with thoughts and feelings.
My first session
Prior to your first session, I offer an introductory 20/30 minutes introductory session, this is free of charge.
Your first session
This is an initial one-hour consultation assessment with me. It may be F2F, or online video call and your confirmation email will indicate which. It is an opportunity to explore with me whether counselling could be beneficial for you at this time and whether working online or F2F is suitable for your personal situation. It also gives you the opportunity to find out more about the process and ask any questions you may have.
Occasionally it may be recommended that you approach an alternative specialist service that could better serve your needs.
Please be aware the type of counselling I offer, is not suitable for serious emergencies. If you find yourself unable to cope between appointments, then your GP should be your first point of contact. It is also worth being aware of other organisations, such as the Samaritans (116 123 -free to call), and the local Mental Health Helpline (0800 107 0160).
Session length
The length of online counselling session is usually 60 minutes long. However, we realise for some this is too long and I will assess what I think would be most therapeutic for you and discuss this with you.
Preparing for your session
• To get the best out of your phone or online sessions please think of them in the
• same way as you would a F2F session with a counsellor.
• I strongly recommend that you are in a safe place where you can speak privately
• If a session begins late due to late entry, the meeting will still need to end at the agreed time.
