About me and my therapy practice
I'm an accredited, non-judgemental, and creative therapist (MBACP) with over 15 years of experience as a complementary therapist and five years as a transpersonal arts counsellor. As a transpersonal arts counsellor, I have successfully helped adults and children to move forward with a wide range of conditions such as trauma, PTSD, Neurodiversity including autism, attachment disorders, eating disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, anger, loss, anxiety, depression (working 1:1). Please see testimonials at the bottom of this section.
I have a beautiful eco-lodge in my garden, where I work from, with views of the Sussex Downs.
I run a successful private practice and teach. I also enjoy working with natural dyes and textiles as an artist. My therapeutic approach is playful, inclusive, and person-centered. I run creative well-being groups for women, retreats, and practitioner training for my shamanic path. I look forward to meeting you.
Practice description
Transpersonal Arts Counselling uses artistic techniques often inspired by nature, its rhythms, and processes. The process respects the authenticity of each individual and is based upon a solid therapeutic relationship.
This therapeutic creativity then allows clients to become more aware of natural processes in and around themselves and the healing potential of colour, line, and form.
Transpersonal Arts Counselling weaves together a holistic approach that originates from Anthroposophy. Anthroposophy is the philosophy of life that respects the freedom of each human being. The therapeutic process connected to this was developed in the early twentieth century by Rudolf Steiner, Dr. Ita Wegman, the artistic therapeutic work of Dr. Margarethe Hauschka, and the artist Liane Collot D’Herbois.
My therapeutic practice is based upon the principle that illness has its roots in an imbalance of the soul and that artistic work is an expression of that soul. I aim to strengthen and bring balance to the whole human being, helping to resolve and prevent illness, therefore allowing a happier life to unfold.
I offer various drawing, painting, and clay-modeling techniques, in order to correspond with the three faculties: thinking, feeling, and willing. Often one area dominates over another and we try to find a healthy balance here through different artistic exercises.
For example, working with colours involves a soul movement and a colour can set the mood of a painting. Colours are a strong medium with the ability to connect with our inner emotional world. Through guided painting, visualisation exercises, and pastel drawings, we can discover the harmonising quality of colour and regain our emotional equilibrium.
