About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Ben — an accredited psychotherapist working online across the UK, specialising in relationship issues.

My clients often describe a lack of clarity in their romantic relationships.

Despite being confident in other areas of life, something about dating or long-term partnerships brings a sense of anxiety, fear, and frustration.

For those heartbroken after a breakup, self-blame can creep in: “If only I’d done things differently,” “I wasted so much time,” “How do I move on?”

For those “hopelessly single,” they question whether it’s their upbringing, commitment fears, or even a growing reliance on porn. Some are afraid of things actually working out for once.

My clients in relationships often ask if it’s really worth it—hoping their partner will change, attached to how things were or could be: “Should I stick it out?”

Even in good relationships, trust can be shaky. They may hyperfocus on possible red flags, struggle to stay present due to retroactive jealousy, or fixate on why the relationship won’t last.

The couples I see struggle to connect—whether it’s rebuilding after an affair, navigating constant fights, coping after loss, or feeling the spark fade under the weight of parenting. Some wonder if opening the relationship might help.

Before therapy, many wondered if they could ever break their patterns of avoidance, conflict, and fear—or feel happy in relationships again.

We’re wired for connection. You deserve to feel fulfilled and secure in your relationships—seen, safe, and at ease. I’d love to help you get there.

Practice description

Trauma-informed practice integrating psychodynamic and Family Systems theory with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

"Cool! But what does that mean, exactly?"

I work from an integrative foundation - which means I draw from several therapeutic models in a way that’s structured, intentional, and tailored to you.

At the core of my work is a blend of:

  • Psychodynamic therapy, which helps us explore how your past relationships and unconscious patterns shape your present experience

  • Systemic and family-based approaches (especially Bowenian theory), which looks at how you function within your relationships and wider systems - not just in isolation

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which supports you in building strong coping mechanisms to help you self-emotionally regulate. ACT helps you live a more values-driven life, even in the presence of difficult thoughts and feelings

These aren’t stitched together randomly. They inform and balance each other in a way that respects both your emotional depth and your real-world challenges.

I also borrow techniques from other approaches when it makes sense - including narrative therapy, transactional analysis, and existential work - but always with intention.

I work in a way that’s collaborative, steady, and trauma-informed - which means I’ll never push you to go faster or deeper than you’re ready for.

We’ll pay attention to what feels safe, what feels overwhelming, and how to move through things at your pace. We’re here to make sense of things together, in a space that respects your story, your nervous system, and your boundaries.

Therapy with me isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s responsive, relational, and rooted in theory, but flexible enough to meet you where you are.

My first session

Once a couple of forms are signed and submitted pre-session, it’s about getting to know each other. The first session will be a free intial consultation what can last up to 50 minutes.

We’ll talk about what’s bringing you here, what you’re hoping for, and what therapy could look like with me. No pressure to go deep straight away. We will go at your pace.
