About me and my therapy practice
Life can feel overwhelming at times. You may be struggling with anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, grief, loss, trauma, burnout, or a significant life transition. You may also feel stuck, disconnected from yourself, or uncertain about what comes next.
As a counsellor and therapeutic coach, I provide a supportive, confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, experiences, and challenges at your own pace. My approach is grounded in the belief that each person is unique, and I tailor our work to meet your individual needs, drawing from a range of therapeutic approaches where appropriate.
I work with adults from diverse backgrounds and have experience supporting people as they navigate personal, emotional, relational, and professional challenges. Many of my clients are balancing demanding careers, family responsibilities, cultural expectations, or significant life changes. Together, we work to increase self-awareness, build resilience, strengthen self-esteem, and develop healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
Alongside counselling, I may incorporate therapeutic coaching where appropriate. This can be particularly helpful when you have gained insight into a difficulty and wish to focus on practical steps, decision-making, confidence, personal growth, or creating meaningful change.
My professional background in Human Resources and leadership development gives me a deeper understanding of workplace pressures, career transitions, burnout, organisational dynamics, and the impact these can have on emotional wellbeing.
I am particularly mindful of the role that culture, identity, family systems, faith, gender, sexuality, and life experiences can play in shaping how we see ourselves and the world around us. You do not need to explain or justify your experiences. My aim is to offer a respectful, compassionate, and non-judgmental space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.
Practice description
I offer counselling and therapeutic coaching to adults seeking support with emotional, relational, personal, and professional challenges. Clients often come to me experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, grief, loss, trauma, burnout, relationship difficulties, low self-confidence, life transitions, or a sense of feeling stuck.
I provide a warm, confidential, and non-judgmental space where you can talk openly about what is happening in your life. My aim is to help you make sense of your experiences, understand patterns that may be holding you back, and develop greater self-awareness, resilience, and emotional wellbeing.
As an integrative practitioner, I draw from a range of therapeutic approaches and tailor our work to your individual needs. I believe that no two people are the same, and therapy should reflect your unique experiences, circumstances, values, and goals.
Where appropriate, I integrate therapeutic coaching into the work. This can be particularly helpful when you are looking to move forward, make important decisions, build confidence, navigate change, or bridge the gap between insight and action.
Many of my clients are professionals balancing the demands of work, family, relationships, and personal expectations. My background in Human Resources, leadership development, and coaching gives me additional insight into workplace stress, career transitions, leadership challenges, and the impact these can have on mental and emotional health.
I work with people from a wide range of cultural, faith, and social backgrounds and recognise the importance of understanding the wider context of your life. Culture, identity, family expectations, gender, sexuality, faith, and life experiences can all influence how we experience ourselves and our relationships.
Whether you are facing a specific difficulty or simply want a space to reflect and grow, I will work alongside you with compassion, curiosity, and respect.
My first session
Before our first session, you will be invited to complete a brief assessment form. This helps me gain an initial understanding of what brings you to counselling, any relevant background information, your goals for therapy, and any support needs you may have. The form is not a test, and there are no right or wrong answers. It simply provides a useful starting point for our work together.
You will also receive a copy of my counselling agreement. During our first session, we will review this together and ensure you understand important aspects of our work, including confidentiality, boundaries, cancellations, data protection, and what you can expect from me as your counsellor. This provides a safe and transparent foundation for our therapeutic relationship.
As part of the welcome information, I provide an Emotions Wheel, which many clients find helpful. It can help you identify, name, and understand emotions that can sometimes be difficult to describe. We may refer to this tool during our work together.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore what has brought you to counselling at this point in your life. We will discuss your current challenges, any relevant personal history, the support you are seeking, and what you hope to achieve through therapy.
Where appropriate, I may introduce Askfirmations, a reflective practice that I use within my coaching and counselling work. Unlike traditional affirmations, Askfirmations are empowering questions designed to encourage curiosity, self-reflection, and new ways of thinking. Many clients find them useful between sessions as part of their personal growth and wellbeing.
Most importantly, the first session is your space. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, building a therapeutic relationship based on trust, respect, and collaboration.
