About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Fiona and I'm a Person-Centred counsellor who works with young people and adults.
Are you feeling scared and worried about not being good enough? Perhaps you struggle with confidence and feel under pressure to keep up or find it hard to talk about what's really going on inside.
Maybe you feel anxious and lost or you may be finding it hard to deal with difficult life events such as loss and bereavement.
I will offer a safe, accepting and non-judgemental space where I will be alongside you to explore and understand your thoughts, feelings and experience at your own pace. Developing a therapeutic relationship with the right counsellor can give you the space and clarity to reach a deeper level of self-understanding and help you uncover your own insights and answers to situations that might have felt impossible to navigate.
I work in a way that puts you and your individual needs at the centre of everything. For some people that means talking; For others particularly younger people who find it hard to put feelings into words, it might mean working in more creative and expressive ways. Either way I will follow your lead.
I have spent the last seven years working as a counsellor and counselling lead in a busy secondary school Supporting young people parents and staff. That experience has given me a deep, real world understanding of the pressures that individuals and families face today - and I bring that to my own experience of raising three children who are now adults.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked as a nurse and then spent many years supporting young people with additional needs in further education, particularly those who are neurodivergent. These are experiences that have shaped the kind of counsellor I am.
I know how daunting it can be to make that first step, but I also know from my own experience of therapy how transformative it can be to feel truly listened to and understood.
If any of this resonates with you, I'd love to hear from you.
