My therapy sessions are 50 minutes long and are either face to face, telephone or on-line.
My practice is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 8am and 2pm.
You may also find it helpful to leave space in your diary after each session for some me time, just to reflect and be kind to yourself. I advise not rushing off into a meeting or kid pick-up. Of course I understand that this is not always possible.
About me and my therapy practice
With me, you have a trust worthy and confidential counsellor, without judgements or prejudices, solely placing you at the centre of the process, where you belong.
There is no instruction manual on what to do as a client in counselling, it can support you in navigating your situation and feelings and when you're ready assist you in finding a way.
You may be anxious and unsure of the direction of your life, maybe you feel something is missing, have suffered a bereavement, are overwhelmed by anxiety or you just don't feel like yourself. Counselling can help.
You can just use the space to tell me whatever is in your head.
It is not always comfortable and can be challenging, it is your story and although I encourage you to share, it is of course for you to feel comfortable to do that.
About me
My work is integrative, working with Person Centered Therapy (here and now) and Psychodynamic (your past, the visible and the invisible).
As well as a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and specialist bereavement training from a local hospice, I have a wealth of experience working with individuals over the previous 6 years. I also have trained with SANDs (baby loss), read and attend CPD on suicide and have completed training on End of Life Therapy.
Reflecting, linking and hearing yourself talk, uninhibited, is powerful therapy.
If I am not the therapist for you, I wish you all the very best in your search and journey.
Practice description
You will have an opportunity to express and explore your feelings, and share your personal story.
Therapy with me is built on trust, freedom to speak and the opportunity to be heard.
My first session
First Contact
After your initial email, I will contact you via your preferred method, email or telephone. This gives you the opportunity to ask any questions you have, hear my voice and get a general feel for therapy with me.
If you decide to go ahead with sessions I will send you out a brief assessment form & our agreement. You can either complete and return or if you prefer we can discuss together at the first session.
First Session
Your opportunity to share your hopes about therapy, what has brought you and what your aims are (if you have any). Then you can share your story and some background.
It is a no judgement area, so if you have any thoughts I will always encourage you to share, but always remembering that it is your story to share.
Therapy with me is governed by the BACP and their Code of Ethics. Privacy is exceptionally important, and we will discuss what this looks like for you.
