About me and my therapy practice

At Woodmere CBT, I provide private CBT, EMDR and evidence-based psychotherapy in Belfast. I am a BACP Accredited and NCPS Accredited Professional psychotherapist and Bupa recognised therapist, offering structured, personalised therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, panic, stress, grief and the effects of adverse life experiences.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is my central therapeutic approach. It helps us understand how thoughts, emotions, physical sensations and behaviours interact, identify patterns that maintain difficulties, and develop practical ways to bring about change.

I also offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), a therapy that uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, to help process distressing memories and reduce their continuing emotional impact. EMDR may be used where past experiences contribute to present difficulties, depending on your needs and assessment.

Sessions are available from my spacious, private, wheelchair-accessible therapy studio at 195 Saintfield Road, Belfast, with ample car parking. Online therapy is also available.

My approach is warm, practical and collaborative, combining clear explanations with targeted therapeutic tools. Together, we will work to make sense of your experiences, reduce distress and build confidence in managing everyday life, with goals agreed together and progress reviewed throughout therapy.

There is no minimum number of sessions and no obligation to continue if you feel we are not a good fit. If my approach does not meet your needs, we can discuss referral to another therapist or service that may be more suitable.

Practice description

My practice, Woodmere CBT, offers private CBT, EMDR and evidence-based psychotherapy from a spacious, private therapy studio at 195 Saintfield Road, Belfast. Situated in a convenient residential area, the studio is accessible to wheelchair users, with ample car parking. Online sessions are also available.

I am a BACP Accredited and NCPS Accredited Professional psychotherapist and a Bupa recognised therapist. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, panic, stress, grief and the effects of adverse life experiences.

My approach is warm, practical and collaborative. We will work together to make sense of your difficulties, understand what may be maintaining them and agree goals that reflect what you want to change. I explain the approaches we use and their purpose, giving you an active role in your therapy.

CBT helps us explore connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviours and develop practical strategies for everyday life. EMDR can help process distressing memories and reduce their continuing emotional impact. The approach we take will depend on your needs, preferences and assessment.

Your first session includes a comprehensive assessment of your current difficulties and relevant personal circumstances, developing a problem list together, identifying priorities and beginning to agree SMART goals for therapy. It also gives us time to consider whether my approach meets your needs. There is no obligation to continue beyond this session.

Throughout therapy, we will review progress together and adapt our work where needed, with a focus on reducing distress and helping you make meaningful, sustainable changes.
