About me and my therapy practice
Welcome to my profile
I’m guessing that if you’ve arrived here that you have been suffering from unwanted feelings of anxiety, depression, loss, low self esteem or even unprocessed grief or trauma.
We all need support from time to time and its hard to admit that we’re not coping as well as we would like. Is that time now?
There comes a time in our lives when there needs to be a change. When you want to make sense of what you are going through.
Recognising that you may need help through therapy can be both courageous and daunting.
Talking through these issues with someone who is not part of your life can bring insight, which in turn, can bring change and healing.
That difference could mean being more confident, more assertive and having better relationships with other people, but more importantly; yourself. Accepting that you are good enough and by starting to value yourself.
Taking that first step to access therapy and prioritising yourself is not selfish but the start of meeting the real you. The part of yourself that has been neglected, perhaps since childhood.
I can offer a safe and confidential space in which to explore what’s been troubling you without fear, judgement or criticism.
I see you. You matter.
If this message resonates with you, then maybe its time to follow your instincts and get in touch. Please email me and I will arrange a mutual time for us to have an informal chat to see how I can help you. It will be a 15 minute free phone call.
Practice description
I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties including the ones mentioned above and more. My approach is Integrative, which means that I can draw from different approaches to tailor the therapy depending on your needs.
The therapy is focussed on you, working collaboratively together in order to find your true self; the authentic part which you may have lost along the way. Using the inner resources you already have which can give you the potential for growth.
In recent years, I have found that most presenting issues that clients come with stem from their childhood. So I have been using Attachment theory and Inner Child work to get to the root of the problem.
Together we will go back into your past to see how it influences you in the here and now. This can be scary sometimes because there may be painful memories that you don’t want to face but in this safe environment, you will be able to process how your past experiences have made you the person you are today.
I will explore patterns of behaviour that may have served you well when you were younger but now as an adult, may need to be reviewed. This is where Inner Child work comes in because it gives us the tools to explore these beliefs, emotions and behaviours that surface unconsciously from time to time when we are triggered.
I will observe how you connect to others and yourself and what defence mechanisms you use and what coping strategies you have in place, If an Attachment style becomes obvious, then we will explore that as relevant.
My approach is not directive, so I will not tell you what to do; I may make suggestions but you have complete autonomy.
I have been seeing clients for 8 years in total and 5 years in private practice. I was a mature student, who decided to retrain as a therapist after careers in Travel, Courier Logistics and Support work. I did my training placements at Sandhurst Counselling Service and RASASC (rape and sexual abuse support centre) in Guildford both for 3 years.
My first session
The introduction call will be free of charge for 15 minutes by video call or telephone to explore why you have come to counselling and I will explain how I work and what you can expect. If you are interested, I will book you in for the initial consultation which will include a full assessment and the time will be spent to see if I’m a good fit for you and then you can decide. This session will incur the set fee of £55.
