About me and my therapy practice
You may be used to thinking deeply about things, yet still find yourself caught in the same feelings or patterns. Perhaps you appear to be coping while privately feeling anxious, low, disconnected or unsure of yourself. You might be facing a bereavement, a relationship ending, or a change that has unsettled your sense of who you are.
I offer a warm, thoughtful space where you can speak openly, including about things that feel difficult to explain or that you usually keep to yourself. You don't need to arrive with a clear understanding of what is wrong
Together, we can explore what you are experiencing, how you relate to yourself and others, and how past experiences may be shaping your present life. I'm interested in understanding you as a person, including the feelings, relationships and experiences that sit behind the difficulties bringing you to therapy.
My approach allows room for reflection, curiosity and honest conversation. We can work towards a deeper understanding of yourself, greater kindness towards the parts you struggle with, and more freedom in how you respond to life's challenges.
Practice description
Our sessions offer regular time to step back from everyday demands and pay attention to what is happening for you. You can bring whatever feels most important that week, whether that is a particular event, a difficult feeling, a relationship, or something you can't quite put into words.
I work collaboratively, listening carefully and offering reflections and questions to help you explore your experience. We might notice recurring patterns, make connections between past and present, or stay with a feeling that usually gets pushed aside. There is room both to understand things more deeply and to consider what you would like to do differently.
You don't have to prepare something to say, and we can take time with subjects that feel difficult. I welcome feedback about how you are finding our work, including anything that feels uncomfortable or unhelpful.
Your needs and priorities will guide the work. We can review how therapy is feeling for you and whether the focus continues to fit what you need.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know each other. We'll talk about what's brought you to therapy, what feels difficult at the moment, and anything you hope might change. If you're unsure what you need, we can explore that together.
I'll ask some questions to help me understand your circumstances and any previous experience of counselling. You don't need to tell your whole story or share everything straight away.
We will also discuss how we would work together, including confidentiality and its limits, practical arrangements, and any questions you have.
You can use this time to get a sense of how it feels to talk with me and whether my way of working suits you. There is no expectation that you will know exactly where to begin
