About me and my therapy practice
Therapy is a space for you: to feel understood and listened to. Perhaps for the first time. And it is through this that you can feel more able and alive.
Our work together can support you in making a change, reflecting on painful experience, bearing a loss, finding a purpose. It can support you in these - and more - through creating new awareness, making helpful connections and finding a way forward.
I provide a safe, welcoming space for you to explore whatever it is that you need and want. In confidence and without judgement. It may well be that you don’t know what you need: though you do know that you have feelings, thoughts and experiences that are painful, challenging, difficult – even unbearable. Therapy provides a way for you to understand, confront, resolve, heal and grow.
I work relationally. Simply put, that means our work together is a collaboration. A relationship that we create together, so that whatever you need and want feels more possible.
And in that relationship, I value all that you are – unconditionally. I work with awareness and sensitivity to you as a person - your culture, heritage, race, body, disability, age, beliefs, gender, sex, orientation. My pronouns are she/her.
Practice description
I am an Integrative therapist. It means that I am able to draw on and incorporate a wide range of therapeutic ideas and practices, to offer you a way of working that is unique to you. I chose this way of working because it is real and flexible. Before I became a therapist, my 20 years of experience as a trainer and coach helped me to understand how there are many ways to harness our strengths and resources. Together we will find the most enabling way forward for you.
My face to face practice is based in North London. I also work online and on the phone.
Sessions are weekly, for 50 minutes. With most clients I work on a long-term basis. Though if you are looking for a shorter period then we can discuss this together.
I hold a BSc Honours Degree in Psychology and a BACP accredited Diploma in Integrative Counselling. I trained for 5 years at The Minster Centre, a leading educational institution for Integrative Therapists, Counsellors and Supervisors. I have worked as both an assessor and counsellor for the Minster Centre therapy service. And for several years as a counsellor supporting individuals recovering from addiction, as well as family members who have been impacted by addiction.
My first session
Whether you have had counselling or therapy before, or this is your first experience it’s important that I am the right therapist for you. Before we arrange our first session, I will arrange a short phone call with you, to discuss your needs.
If we agree, our first session is an opportunity to meet (whether virtually or in person), for you to ask questions and gain a sense of safety in what it would be like to work with me. In return I’m curious to understand something about you: what brings you to therapy and whether there is something you would like to focus on in our work together.
I offer this first session as a no-obligation consultation and assessment - at a reduced fee of £50.
