About me and my therapy practice
Long before I trained, I was the person sitting in the other chair, wrestling with my own difficulties and looking for something that could make life feel meaningful again. For years, that search ran outward. The turning point was discovering that what I was looking for lay inward and downward — and that the real work was to stop avoiding my emotional pain and turn towards it.
What helped me most was the steadiness of a weekly meeting, and the quality of the therapeutic relationship. That experience moved me to train, and it continues to shape what I try to offer others.
I trained at Re-Vision in London, where I completed a Diploma in Integrative Transpersonal Counselling — a soulful but psychologically rigorous training that honours both personal history and the deeper patterns beneath it. I am also a qualified Somatic Experiencing (SE™) practitioner, the body-based approach to trauma developed by Dr Peter Levine, and I am currently training for certification in NARM (NeuroAffective Relational Model). Both bring the body and nervous system more fully into the work.
I was born in the Basque Country and have lived between Spain, the United States and the UK, including two decades in London. This has given me a particular sensitivity to questions of identity, belonging and cultural complexity.
Away from work, I’m a musician. I play the clarinet, handpan and other instruments. For me, creativity isn’t a side note. It’s part of the same imaginative, embodied attention I bring to counselling.
Practice description
My work is transpersonal in orientation. Alongside your personal story, with its wounds, patterns and relationships, it makes room for the deeper dimension of experience: the search for meaning and the pull towards wholeness. You don't need to hold any particular belief. Seen this way, even painful symptoms and stuck patterns can be part of a longer movement towards becoming more fully yourself.
In my practice, I listen in three ways:
I listen to the depths
Drawing on Jungian psychology, I pay attention to dreams, images and the themes that keep returning. I don't offer clever interpretations. We stay curious together and let meaning surface in its own time.
I listen to what your body is telling you
Drawing on Somatic Experiencing (SE™) and NARM, we pay attention not only to your words, but to the sensations, impulses and emotions that arise as you speak. Difficult experiences are approached gently and at your own pace, allowing change to unfold without becoming overwhelmed.
I listen to what happens between us
The therapeutic relationship can reveal old patterns as they arise in the present, creating space to explore them together. Gestalt and IFS help us stay curious, present and compassionate towards what emerges.
Who this work suits
People who want to understand themselves at a deeper level, not just manage a symptom (though relief often follows). Common themes include long-standing relational patterns; numbness or feeling at a distance from yourself; grief and loss, including the quieter griefs of migration and the life not lived; anxiety, depression and burnout; questions of meaning, vocation and direction, including mid-life transitions; and developmental or relational trauma.
My first session
Before we commit to working together, I offer a free 20-minute introductory call, by video or phone. It's a chance to meet, tell me a little about what's bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether we're a good fit. Feeling comfortable with your therapist matters, so there's no obligation to continue.
If we decide to go ahead, our first full session is at the usual rate of £70. It's a gentle beginning. We'll take time to explore what has brought you here, what you hope for, and anything about your history and current life you'd like me to know. I'll also explain how I work, confidentiality, and practical arrangements such as scheduling and cancellations. There are no forms to fill in before we meet, and you don't need to arrive with anything prepared or know exactly what you want to say.
The early sessions are also about building trust. Much of the work happens in the relationship, so we go at a pace that feels manageable for you.
