About me and my therapy practice
I’m a qualified, experienced UKCP and BACP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Walthamstow, London E17.
I offer a warm, compassionate, confidential space where you can talk openly and at your own pace. I often work with people around self-esteem, anxiety, depression, work, childhood trauma, relationship issues, sexuality and gender identity, parenting, neurodivergence, health conditions, life transitions and spirituality.
I offer in-person sessions in Walthamstow, North East London as well as online counselling, using Zoom for sessions.
My approach is integrative and relational. This means I draw on different therapeutic approaches in my work, mainly psychodynamic, transpersonal and humanistic. An integrative approach allows our work to be flexible and responsive to you as an individual; integrating mind, body, emotions and spirit into the healing process.
Practice description
What to expect
People often start therapy when they feel caught in repeating cycles. Alongside easing immediate distress, we think about what lies underneath, where more lasting change can begin.
We may focus on what’s happening in your life now, while also exploring the deeper patterns shaped by your past and relationships.
Over time, people often find they understand themselves more clearly, feel less stuck, and are able to relate differently to themselves and others.
In our sessions, you can expect me to be present, thoughtful, and engaged. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, think together and make sense of your experience.
Our work together may involve talking, reflection, creative exploration, and embodied awareness. We might focus on how you experience yourself in relationships, or how patterns from the past influence the present.
Sometimes we may work with dreams and images, to access more creative and intuitive forms of knowing and meaning.
I work with an intersectional awareness of power and social context, and how these forces impact our emotional life, identity, relationships and distress.
LGBTQ+ affirmative counselling
As a queer therapist, I bring personal insight and professional experience to working with issues of sexuality and gender identity.
I work with clients who are lesbian, gay, bi, pan, queer, asexual, questioning, trans, non-binary, genderqueer and cis. Clients may want to explore sexuality or gender identity, navigate difficulties with family or relationships, develop greater self-acceptance, or process experiences of homophobia, transphobia or other forms of oppression.
I was a volunteer counsellor for three years at the East London Out Project (ELOP), a charity which provides low-cost counselling to LGBTQ+ people.
My first session
The relationship between a counsellor and client is the key to successful therapy. I offer a free 20-minute phone call to help you see if you’d like to work with me.The first session is an initial consultation where we discuss your goals for therapy and what issues you would like to address, and it will help you get a feel for how I work. This will help you see if you would like to continue working with me and I'll assess if I’m the right therapist for you.
If we decide to work together, we would usually arrange to meet weekly at a regular time for a 50-minute session. I offer short and long-term counselling. We may decide to start with a fixed number of sessions to start with, and then review how it’s going.
