About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Debbie, a qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I understand that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you're unsure where to start or find it difficult to talk about how you're feeling.

My approach is warm, down-to-earth and non-judgemental. I believe that having someone who genuinely listens, without judgement or expectations, can make a real difference.

I offer a space where you can talk openly, explore your thoughts and feelings, and begin to make sense of whatever is happening in your life. You don't need to have everything figured out before coming to counselling. Sometimes simply having the opportunity to talk things through can be a valuable starting point.

I work with people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, low mood, bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, trauma and challenging life experiences.

My work is guided by each individual's needs. Some people come to counselling to explore experiences from their past, while others need support with something happening in the present. We can work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

I have been qualified since 2020 and have experience supporting adults, young people and families, including those affected by serious illness, bereavement and difficult life circumstances.

Above all, I believe counselling should feel like a genuine human connection, where you feel heard, respected and understood.

Practice description

I offer face-to-face and online counselling, giving you the flexibility to choose what works best for you.

Sessions can be arranged weekly or fortnightly, depending on your individual needs and circumstances. Fortnightly appointments can also help make counselling more affordable.

Alongside ongoing counselling, I offer Single Session Therapy for those who may have a particular issue, concern or dilemma they would like to explore without committing to longer-term therapy.

I also have experience supporting individuals and families affected by serious illness, cancer, bereavement and end-of-life experiences.

For those receiving end-of-life care, I can offer compassionate emotional support, including home visits where appropriate.

Whether you're going through a difficult period, struggling with something from your past, or simply feeling that something needs to change, you're welcome to get in touch.

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling.

If you'd like to find out more or discuss arranging an appointment, please contact me by email, text or WhatsApp.

Counselling can help with:

Anxiety and when you are feeling low.

Bereavement.

Work through and process your experiences from the present and past.

Gain new perspectives.

Learn new coping strategies.

Support through difficult times.

Heal from your past.

Work on relationships.

Addiction

I am currently offering Single Session Therapy. This could be useful if you have a current issue or dilemma that needs discussed with a professional, offering a space to talk through and different perspective. This could be done with 1 or 2 sessions.

My first session

I offer an initial 10 minute telephone call to discuss what is happening for you and why you might be thinking about therapy. Some people want to do this and other like to book their 1st session and get started.

In the 1st session, we can take it as slow as you need to. It may take some time to feel comfortable enough to share or you may feel like getting it all out as soon as you arrive. Everyone is different and it's OK to do what you need to do.
