About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Petra, a UK-trained psychotherapist with clinical psychology training, working with adults who seek deeper understanding, emotional healing, and meaningful change in their lives.
I offer effective, evidence-based therapy in a warm, collaborative, and deeply relational setting, where safety and trust form the foundation for lasting transformation.
I believe that healing is not only about changing our thoughts, because we are more than just our thinking minds. We are emotional, relational, and embodied beings. For this reason, my work integrates cognitive, emotional, relational, and somatic approaches, supporting transformation on multiple levels, from symptom relief to deeper shifts in how you relate to yourself and others.
Credentials & Accreditations:
UK-trained Psychotherapist
Diploma in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy, New School for Psychotherapy and Counselling, London
4-year Gestalt training at Edinburgh Gestalt Institute, Edinburgh
Clinical Psychology Training (University of Bergamo, Italy)
Certified in EMDR (Sonoma Institute, San Francisco, US)
Trauma-informed, relational therapy
Practice description
My approach is holistic. I work with:
Emotions – helping you process difficult feelings such as shame, anxiety, grief, or anger.
The body – bringing awareness to how experiences are held physically, and supporting nervous system regulation.
Thought patterns – gently exploring beliefs and narratives that may no longer serve you.
I pay attention not only to what you say, but how you experience yourself in the present moment. Often, the patterns that shape your life also show up in the therapeutic relationship, and I offer space where can work with them safely and consciously.
Areas I Often Work With
I have a particular interest and experience in:
Childhood trauma and emotional neglect
Relationship difficulties and attachment wounds
Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents
Shame and self-blame
Boundaries and people-pleasing patterns
Identity, meaning, and life transitions
Belonging, loneliness
What You Can Expect
In our sessions, you can expect:
A compassionate, non-judgmental space
Depth and emotional honesty
Respect for your autonomy
Gentle challenge when helpful
Attention to both psychological and embodied experience
Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you. It is about helping you reconnect with your own inner resources, develop stronger boundaries, deepen self-understanding, and build more fulfilling relationships.
I believe that growth is possible when we feel safe enough to be authentic and I aim to create that safety together with you.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute consultation call to help us determine whether we feel like a good fit to work together. This is an opportunity for you to briefly share what brings you to therapy, ask any questions about my approach, and get a sense of how I work. There is no obligation to continue.
The first full session is an assessment and exploratory session. During this session, we will discuss your current concerns, relevant personal history, and what you would like to gain from therapy. I may ask some structured questions to better understand your emotional, relational, and psychological patterns, while also leaving space for what feels most important to you.
Rather than rushing into techniques, I prioritise creating a safe and attuned therapeutic relationship from the beginning. This foundation is essential for effective work, whether we are using relational exploration, CBT tools, EMDR, or somatic approaches.
If appropriate, we may begin to identify initial goals and discuss a potential direction for our work together. Some clients benefit from short-term, focused therapy targeting specific difficulties, while others choose longer-term, deeper exploration.
