About me and my therapy practice

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and an HCPC Registered Dramatherapist, with over 25 years’ experience supporting adults in therapeutic settings.

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or feeling disconnected from themselves.

You may have spent much of your life supporting others, while your own needs and feelings have remained in the background. You may have felt different, due to your background, beliefs or identity, which has made you feel different, on the edges, or unsure about where you fit in.

Some people express that others think they appear to be managing well on the outside, yet express feeling internally overwhelmed or out of touch with their own needs.

Many clients in therapy are thoughtful and capable individuals who have spent much of their lives supporting others, meeting expectations, or navigating complex personal and professional demands. Over time, this could lead them to feeling a loss of connection with their own needs, identity, or direction.

My professional experience includes working with issues of loss and bereavement, identity and belonging, life transitions, and supporting those who are used to caring for others, or who have put the needs of others before their own.

I offer a calm, confidential and non-judgemental space to pause and reflect, for you to speak at your own pace, and begin to understand yourself more fully, and develop greater clarity and understanding.

I also have specialist training in dramatherapy, a creative therapeutic approach that can support expression. This can be particularly helpful where your experience might feel difficult to put into words. However, there is no expectation to work creatively. We will work in the way that feels most supportive for you.

I work within the ethical framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. I currently offer online therapy.

Practice description

I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy for adults. Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at a regular time. I currently work online and use a secure and confidential platform.

Our first meeting provides an opportunity to discuss what has brought you to therapy and ask what you hope to gain from the process. It is also a space for you to ask questions and consider whether working together feels right.

My approach is relational and reflective, for you to explore your experiences at your own pace. Therapy may involve understanding patterns in relationships, exploring past experiences and their impact, towards developing greater awareness of your emotional responses, needs, and boundaries.

I provide short-term and long-term therapy, depending on your needs. Some clients come with a specific focus; others seek longer-term work to explore identity, self-worth, or relational patterns in greater depth.

Confidentiality, ethical practice, and ongoing professional supervision and development are all central aspects of my work in adhering to the professional codes of practice of BACP and HCPC.

My first session

I offer an initial free 20-minute phone call to understand your needs.

Our first session together will provide an opportunity for you to express what you would like to explore in therapy and to ask me further questions and to explore how we will work together.
