About me and my therapy practice
Counselling for young people and parents
I’m Claire, a BACP Registered Counsellor offering a calm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and feel listened to. My aim is to help you feel understood, develop a better understanding of what you’re experiencing and find ways forward that feel right for you.
I love working with young people
I work integratively, with person-centred counselling at the heart of my approach. I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship is key, and I work at your pace rather than telling you what you should do.
Where appropriate, I draw on CBT-informed and other evidence-based techniques, and I enjoy using creative approaches with young people when this feels helpful to them.
I can support young people with:
Anxiety, worry and feeling overwhelmed
Low mood, confidence and self-esteem
School, exams and academic pressure
Relationships and family difficulties
Identity and life changes
Neurodiversity and associated challenges
Phobias and specific worries
You don’t need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what is wrong before coming to counselling. We can work together to make sense of what is happening and what might help.
Supporting parents
Being a parent can be challenging, particularly when your child is struggling. I offer parents their own confidential space to talk, reflect and focus on their own wellbeing – putting on your own “oxygen mask” too.
For parents who are looking for more practical support, I can also offer shorter-term, advice-focused sessions, drawing on my experience as a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner and my training in evidence-based interventions for anxiety and depression in children and young people.
Practice description
My experience
Alongside my private counselling practice, I have worked as a Children’s Wellbeing Practitioner since 2022, supporting children and young people experiencing anxiety and low mood.
I hold a Level 5 Certificate in Counselling Young People, a PGCert in delivering low-intensity evidence-based interventions for children and young people, and I am a BACP Registered Counsellor. I continue to develop my knowledge through professional training, supervision and ongoing learning.
My first session
Taking the first step
Starting counselling can feel daunting, so I offer a free introductory video call before we begin. This gives you the opportunity to tell me a little about what is happening, ask any questions and decide whether you feel I’m the right person to work with.
Sessions are up to 50 minutes and cost £65. I offer face-to-face counselling in Warfield and Wokingham, Berkshire, as well as online sessions.
If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch. I’d be very happy to hear from you.
