About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Rebecca, I help young professionals struggling with low self esteem & anxiety in their life & relationships. If you're stuck in overthinking loops, analyse social interactions, people please & never feel good enough, I offer practical, down to earth therapy to help.
Does this sound familiar?
You spiral if texts go unanswered, wondering "what have I done?" - having sleepless nights & thinking people are mad at you.
You're preoccupied with what everyone thinks, analysing social interactions wondering how you came across & worried people are judging you.
You experience strong feelings of rejection if a friend cancels, seem distant or close to others.
You can't say no without feeling like a terrible person or fearing you'll lose people.
At work, you assume you're in trouble if your boss wants to speak to you, feel like an imposter and can't set boundaries because of fear of disapproval from colleagues.
I know first hand what it's like to have a nagging feeling of not being good enough and no matter how much you try to please, change or stop overthinking, relationships continue to feel fragile.
Working on my self worth to feel more secure, using evidence based tools has changed my life and I love helping clients experience the same transformation.
Practice description
Many of the clients I work with carry wounds from childhood where they never felt enough, couldn't rely on adults around them to meet their needs or felt it was their job to make everyone else happy and manage emotions.
In therapy, we work collaboratively to understand exactly where your personal patterns come from and help you create new ones that work for you. This may involve processing traumatic events and beliefs that are hard to shift.
I am trained in a variety of proven and practical approaches which are particularly useful for low self esteem and anxiety. I love working with people who are committed to change by implementing the tools I offer.
These includes CBT to help you generate more helpful ways of looking at things, Mindfulness to help you regulate anxiety and overthinking and Compassion Based Approaches to cultivate kindness instead of self criticism.
I am also trained in EMDR which means I can help you process stressful and traumatic events from your past which are shaping your present.
You can start using these tools straight away to reduce anxiety but also work towards lasting changes.
Clients that work with me feel:
Calmer and more confident in daily life, more comfortable in their own skin and more secure in relationships; Able to regulate their emotions at home and at work; They’re also able to prioritise themselves more without fear of disapproval, be more present and joyful in life, manage work stress and have a better work life balance.
My first session
In the first session, we will explore what brought you to therapy including relevant past experiences. We will then discuss what you want to change to plan interventions to help you work towards those goals.
