About me and my therapy practice

Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, stuck, exhausted, or disconnected from themselves and others. You may be experiencing anxiety, depression, addiction, burnout, trauma, or a general sense that life feels difficult to manage. You might also feel that you experience the world differently from those around you or struggle with feelings of not fitting in.

Beginning therapy and choosing the right therapist can feel daunting, but reaching this point is already an important first step towards understanding yourself more fully and creating meaningful change.

My approach is warm, thoughtful, and collaborative. By listening carefully to your experiences, I aim to understand you at a deep level so that together we can explore not only the difficulties you are facing, but also the strengths and resilience you already possess. Therapy can help you better understand patterns, relationships, emotions, and experiences which may previously have felt confusing or overwhelming.

For over 10 years, I have worked with with adults of all ages and have a particular interest in supporting people affected by addiction, trauma and abuse, burnout, and those who identify with a neurodivergent style of thinking, whether formally diagnosed or not. I also work with issues including stress, mental illness, overwhelm, self-esteem difficulties, and feelings of isolation or not belonging.

My training began as a Person-Centred Therapist in 2016 before continuing into CBT training in 2017, leading to both a Foundation Degree and Bachelor’s Degree qualification. Alongside formal training, I continue to engage in ongoing professional development to support ethical and effective practice.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and work within their ethical framework.

About me and my therapy practice

I will accompany you through your journey of self-awareness. I will listen carefully, without judging and ask helpful questions along the way. As your story unfolds, we will think about different perspectives which may change the meaning, allowing you to feel different.

I have worked with many clients, facing all sorts of problems, over ten years. My aim is always to fully understand the problems your are facing, before empowering you to understand what you need and how you may get those needs met.

Practice description

As an associate counsellor for Hazelwood Counselling Services, I can offer face-to-face therapy sessions in our comfortable practice in Retford. There is free parking on site.

Online and telephone sessions usually take place over Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp, or a phone call.

No matter which method of communication you choose, the service you receive is the same standard.

My first session

Once you have submitted your referral form and payment for the first session, you will receive an appointment confirmation. This first session gives you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have and it gives me time to get a good idea of what you want to use your sessions for.

You don't need to prepare for this session, I will read your referral form and ask for any additional information which I think is relevant.

You may also want tell me things which you decided not to include on your referral form. Usually, this process is conversational and my priority is always to give you the space you need to express what's important to you.

By the end of this first session, you will have a feel for how I work and we may have set some goals for what you want to achieve from therapy.
