About me and my therapy practice

Sometimes life can feel overwhelming, leaving you feeling stuck, anxious, or unsure how to move forward. You may look like you're coping on the outside, but inside things feel much harder. You don't have to face this alone.

I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. My approach is client-led and draws on Person-Centred, Transactional Analysis and Psychodynamic theory, which explores how past experiences may have shaped current beliefs, patterns and life scripts.

My clients often describe me as a warm and friendly therapist, and I tailor our work together according to your individual needs. I offer a safe and supportive space where we can explore whatever difficulties or blocks you may be experiencing.

I bring a wealth of experience from corporate, educational and social care settings, alongside a deep commitment to supporting others. Having lived and worked abroad, I also understand what it can feel like to live within a different cultural environment or to feel different from those around you.

I am continually developing my practice and integrating new knowledge, including somatic approaches that recognise the connection between mind and body. I also hold a coaching qualification, which can be helpful if you would like support with setting goals or making changes in your life.

I am currently training in EMDR and will soon be offering this as an additional option for trauma healing.

I offer face-to-face sessions in my therapy room at the back of my home, which is a comfortable and calming space designed to help you feel relaxed and at ease. I also offer online and telephone sessions if that is preferable.

If you would like to know more, please feel free to get in touch or visit my website. I am happy to answer any questions you may have so that you can decide whether working together feels right for you.

Practice description

I work according to the individual needs of each client. In our first sessions we will begin by gaining an overview of what is happening for you and identifying the main difficulties you are experiencing at the present time. From there we can explore both the here and now and how past experiences may be influencing your current thoughts, feelings and reactions.

Together we may look at how your life script or patterns have developed and how these may be affecting the way you respond to situations or relationships today. My aim is to help you build greater awareness and understanding of yourself, while also offering ideas, tools and techniques that can support resilience and personal growth.

I strive to ensure that every client feels safe, supported and understood. Therapy may involve a few focused sessions or longer-term work, depending on your needs. I draw on my knowledge of different therapeutic approaches to help you understand your reactions and support you in moving forward at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable.

During our work together we may explore patterns, relationships and past experiences, always with care, curiosity and respect for your boundaries. Therapy can help you gain clarity, develop self-understanding and feel more confident in navigating life’s challenges. While I will not tell you what to do, I will help you discover the tools and insights that enable you to move forward in a way that feels right for you.

We can discuss the length of sessions, as well as whether you prefer online or face-to-face therapy, during a free initial consultation to see whether working together feels like a good fit.

I am also keen to support those who are currently in counselling training and can offer a reduced rate for trainee counsellors.

My first session

I am happy to arrange a free introductory chat in the first instance, where we can talk about how we might work together and I can answer any questions you may have.

Our first session is usually a slightly longer session, giving us time to explore what has brought you to counselling and to begin building our therapeutic relationship. During this session we will look at what is currently happening for you, identify the most pressing difficulties you are experiencing, and explore what you would like to gain from therapy.

We may also begin to consider what might be preventing you from moving forward and explore some of the patterns, experiences or beliefs that may be influencing how you feel today. This session is also an opportunity for you to see whether you feel comfortable working with me, as feeling safe and understood is an important part of the counselling process.
