About me and my therapy practice

"Hello and welcome to my listing. I'm delighted you've taken the first step! It's comforting to know that it's okay not to be okay at times. Life can throw curveballs, and it's completely 'normal' to feel overwhelmed or uncertain. If you're considering counselling for the first time, it may seem odd, but acknowledging when we don't feel 'quite right' takes courage. Good for you! Choosing counselling with me means you're not alone in this. I limit the number of clients I take on, ensuring I have the necessary time between sessions to reflect and provide the best support for those seeking help.

Having family and friends to discuss our issues with is wonderful, but sometimes talking to them can leave us more confused or hesitant. Whether you're dealing with anxiety, recurring relationship patterns, feelings of inadequacy, or are generally overwhelmed, we can collaborate to bring about change. Counselling can be challenging; it requires our dedication and time, but if you're prepared to take that step, I'm here to support you. My goal is to assist you in uncovering your inner strength and resilience. I provide a safe space to express your emotions, and a non-judgmental ear to help you navigate life's hurdles. I aim to listen and help you with any concerns you have. Together, we'll explore your experiences; how you connect with yourself and the world, and discover new ways to a healthier, more contented you.

The essence of counselling lies in our collaboration, and the most crucial part of this is the trust that you're in a safe space with me to express your feelings.

Being heard is vital in today's bustling world, where we often don't take the time to contemplate our worries. Counselling offers you the chance to listen to yourself and receive support throughout the process.

I will assist you in making sense of your emotional patterns and the repeating behaviours"

Practice description

The practice offers private secure off road access and a warm, welcoming, comfortable counselling room.  We are a short walking distance from Great Dunmow High Street, there is a convenient bus route which stops in the high road and parking is available only a two-minute walk away.

The practice benefits from access to water and rest room facilities.

My first session

Before a first session I like to offer my clients a free introductory call. We can arrange a date and time which works for us both. During the call you will have the opportunity to share how you are feeling. I will ask you a few questions and talk about how we will work together. The counselling relationship is an important part of therapy, and the call can help you understand if I am the right counsellor for you.

At the end of the call, if you are comfortable with me, we will agree on a first session time and date. The sessions are normally 50 minutes and take place at the same time each week. To help prepare for our work together I will email a ‘client information form’ this is designed to gather some general details and saves time for you before the session.

The initial 'get to know you' session can take up to an hour, maybe more. It gives you the opportunity to share with me what is bringing you to counselling and what you are looking to gain from it, but also I will ask you some questions about yourself, both to help me see what you need and so that I have some helpful background information. We will also have the chance to look at how we might work together and how you would like to take things forward.

If this sounds like something you would like to consider, please don't hesitate to reach out.  Leave a message for me and I will contact you to agree the next steps.
