About me and my therapy practice
Hello there,
I’m Rachel, a counsellor trained in the person-centred approach (2021) and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I aim to offer a grounded, compassionate space where you can speak openly about whatever feels important to you, at a pace that feels manageable and respectful of your individual needs. I believe each person holds their own capacity for growth, understanding, and change, and I will always try to support you in exploring your experience in a way that feels respectful, collaborative, and authentic.
Since training, I have worked for a specialist service in a range of settings. This has given me a broad experience of working with trauma, complex distress, and the impact of difficult and often overwhelming life experiences.
There are many different reasons why people seek counselling. You may have something specific you’d like to explore, or you might just have a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right, even if you’re not sure where to begin.
Having a space to talk with someone who is fully committed to listening to you, can help you make better sense of your thoughts and feelings, develop a deeper understanding of yourself, and perhaps feel less alone with what you’re facing.
My approach is person-centred and relational, grounded in the belief that change happens when we feel understood and accepted without judgement. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can explore things at your own pace and in your own way.

Outdoor Therapy
You may, like me, feel drawn to being outside in the natural world, and sense that this environment could support the therapeutic process.
I offer outdoor therapy to existing clients if they feel drawn to this way of working. My approach is grounded in the understanding that we are not separate from nature, but in ongoing relationship with the natural world. Working outdoors can bring this into the therapeutic space in an embodied way, where weather, sound, movement, and space may naturally become part of the process.
There is growing recognition of the benefits of nature for wellbeing and mental health. I approach outdoor therapy with careful attention to safety, pace, and consent, ensuring that it is thoughtfully discussed, agreed, and held.
I also hold an awareness of our relationship with the land itself, including respect for the spaces we are in and attentiveness to how we enter, experience, and leave them.
If being in nature is important to you but we are not able to meet outdoors, we can of course, still bring your connection with the natural world into our work together in the counselling room or online.
My first session
It is natural to want to find the right therapist and sometimes this can feel daunting.
I offer a free 15 minute introductory session to try and help with this.
This is not a counselling session but an opportunity for us to 'meet' and see if we feel we may be the right fit.
