About me and my therapy practice
Hello and welcome, I’m Estelle.
I’m an integrative psychodynamic counsellor with over 20 years’ experience offering psychologically safe spaces within schools, NHS settings, and private practice.
I work with adolescents (16+), adults, and parents who may feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or internally conflicted — even when they appear to be managing on the outside.
My approach is relational and underpinned by attachment theory. This means I place the quality of the therapeutic relationship at the heart of our work. When we feel safe and understood, we can begin to explore the deeper patterns shaping how we relate, manage emotions, and experience ourselves.
I am psychodynamically trained, with postgraduate study at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. Alongside this, I work integratively, drawing on approaches such as CBT, mindfulness, and neuroscience-informed thinking, adapting to you as an individual.
I also bring lived experience of ADHD, which deepens my understanding of neurodivergent strengths, sensitivities, and challenges. Therapy can support pacing, regulation, and self-compassion for minds that move quickly or feel easily overloaded.
I am mindful of how identity, culture, and experiences of marginalisation — including racism or feeling “othered” — can shape a person’s inner world. Where relevant, we can gently explore how these experiences have impacted your sense of self and belonging.
Alongside my work with individuals, I have experience supporting older adults, including those who are less mobile, offering space to reflect on life experiences, relationships, and meaning.
I see therapy as a collaborative process, where you can begin to feel more understood, make sense of your experiences, and develop ways of coping that feel right for you.
Practice description
I offer a calm, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and at your own pace.
Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, providing a consistent and containing space to explore what is going on for you. I work both short-term and long-term, depending on your needs.
In our work together, we may gently explore current challenges, patterns in relationships, or experiences from the past that may still be affecting you. Alongside this, I can offer practical tools and strategies where helpful, particularly around managing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or day-to-day stress.
I aim to work collaboratively with you, building a therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, heard, and understood. From this foundation, we can begin to make sense of your experiences and support meaningful change.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you decide whether I feel like the right fit. I usually suggest attending four sessions initially, giving us time to begin the work together before reviewing how you would like to continue.
Sessions are available online, face-to-face in Hampstead on Fridays, and as home visits where appropriate following a risk assessment.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute consultation before booking, giving you the opportunity to ask any questions and get a sense of whether I feel like the right fit for you.
In our first full session, we will begin by exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you might be hoping for. There is no pressure to share everything at once — we will go at your pace.
I may ask some gentle questions about your background, current situation, and any previous experience of therapy, to help me understand how best to support you.
The first session is also an opportunity for you to get a feel for how I work and to decide whether you feel comfortable continuing.
I usually suggest attending four sessions initially, giving us time to begin the work together before reviewing how you would like to move forward.
Sessions are 50 minutes and charged at my usual rate.
