About me and my therapy practice
I specialise in working with LGBTQ+ clients and those who have always felt ‘different’ in some way. You might be looking for help with anxiety, which feels overwhelming and stops you living the life you want. Or perhaps you’ve noticed the same reoccurring patterns and problems showing up in your relationships and want to do something differently but are not sure where to start. Maybe you know you’ve experienced trauma, or a difficult family situation and want to stop the past from holding you back. I can help you better understand yourself and what might help you feel better.
Working with me can help you:
- Understand your experiences of anxiety and learn to manage it so it doesn’t stop you living
- Improve your relationships, set boundaries, make decisions and stand up for yourself and what you need
- Overcome your challenges and past trauma so you feel less overwhelmed and can live a more fulfilling life.
Practice description
I create a welcoming space to explore your experiences with you and use my knowledge of attachment, how trauma impacts our nervous system and insights and hope from my lived experience, to help you find what might help you feel better. I strive to make my practice as anti-oppressive as possible, providing therapy that is queer affirmative, trauma informed and neuro-affirming. My approach comes from the perspective of being more interested in what happened to you than what’s ‘wrong’ with you.
We might be a good fit if:
- You’ve had therapy before but you didn’t see lasting change, or you’ve previously felt misunderstood in therapy that wasn’t queer-affirming.
- You want a down-to-earth therapist, who will be real with you and not leave long, awkward silences
- You don’t want to spend your session time educating your therapist about your queer identity.
-You are ready to try something new and are aware that therapy can take work and time.
My first session
My practice is online, so location need not be a barrier. I offer a free 20-minute appointment on zoom so you can ask any questions and we can see if we are a good fit. Please send me a message to arrange this and let me know your availability. I organise meetings by e-mail so you don’t need to worry about taking an awkward phone call at an inconvenient time!
