About me and my therapy practice

Integrative psychotherapist specialising in trauma, relationships and GSRD (gender, sexual and relationship diversity)

A warm, collaborate space to explore difficult experiences, understand recurring patterns and develop a more connected relationship with yourself and others.

I'm an integrative therapist, which means I draw on several modalities. This is likely to include person-centred, compassion-focussed, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), attachment, narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and existential approaches. Where appropriate, I use my experience as a meditation teacher and in breath-work to work somatically with the body.

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Trauma

I'm a diploma certified trauma therapist (level 7 distinction) and work with people who may be struggling with emotional regulation, flashbacks, disassociation, feeling safe and connected to the world, triggers or shame. I treat both PTSD and C-PTSD through building psycho-education and mind-body awareness alongside evidence-based therapies such as Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping) and Cognitive Processing.

Relational dynamics

Relationship to the world, others and with self; difficult family or interpersonal dynamics, society anxiety, neurodiversity, attachment issues, identity issues, relationship issues.

Sexuality, desire and intimacy

Differences in desire, kink, physical issues, sexual shame, sexual trauma, or difficulties feeling connected to sexuality. I avoid assumptions of normativity. Psychosexual certified (level 5).

LGBTQIA+

I work extensively with this community of which I am a part of. In the past I have worked for Rainbow MIND and Switchboard Melbourne to support LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Practice description

BACKGROUND

I use she/they pronouns and identify as LGBTQIA+. I grew up in the UK and currently reside in London but trained as a psychotherapist whilst living abroad in Melbourne Australia. My first career was in the food industry where I founded a food start up and worked as a marketing and brand manager. I have also written a cookbook. I have a personal interest in Buddhism which I sometimes bring into the room when appropriate.

TRAINING

Registered Member of the British Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors: Number 00971893

Diploma in Trauma Psychotherapy The Grove, London (2024): Creating a sense of safety in the body through psycho-education and emotional regulation, teaching practical tools for addressing both PTSD and C-PTSD symptoms (such as trigger responses, intrusive imagery and disassociation). Use of a combination of evidence-based techniques to remove 'charge' from trauma such as EFT (tapping), cognitive processing, somatic and imagery techniques, trauma-focussed CBT.

Certification in Psychosexual Therapy The Grove, London (2021): Themes I work with include non-monogamy, kink, sexual compulsivity, sexual trauma, disassociation, sexual shame, physical issues, relationships and desire. GSRD (gender, sexuality and relationship diverse) affirming approach.

Graduate Diploma in Counselling, Australian College of Applied Psychology, Melbourne (2017 - 2020): Integrative degree inclusive of foundational training in mental health presentations, grief, alcohol and drugs, family, cross-cultural counselling, neurodiversity and trauma. My placement was as a student campus counsellor for SAE Institute in Melbourne.

My first session

I know starting therapy can be daunting so I will strive to put you at ease and create a relaxed, friendly environment. We may look at what has brought you to therapy now and decide on a few goals for our work together. I will ask a bit about your life and childhood, but you are always in control of what we discuss and we don't have to speak about anything you would rather not. I will adapt the space to meet your needs; some clients prefer to use therapy as a sound board, others prefer me to have a more active role and perhaps give 'homework' to reflect on between sessions.
