About me and my therapy practice
Feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just… not yourself?
You don’t need to have all the answers to begin therapy. Sometimes the first step is simply being heard — and that’s where we begin.
I’m Miriam. I believe at the heart of therapy is a safe, trusting relationship. When you feel secure and accepted, it becomes easier to open up and understand what you’re going through.
That’s what I aim to offer — a space where you don’t have to pretend. Where you can just be yourself and go at your own pace.
I work through the lens of trauma and attachment, helping you develop a sense of safety, security, and trust — the foundation for healing and change.
Trauma doesn’t always look how you’d expect. It can show up as:
🌪️ Feeling constantly on edge
🫥 Numbness or disconnection — from others or from yourself
😴 Poor sleep, body tension or mystery aches
🚪 Avoiding places, people, or memories
🌀 Coping through substances, self-harm, or patterns that feel hard to stop
🎯 Overachievement, perfectionism, or struggling to switch off
🤐 Difficulty trusting, or working hard to stay invisible
And often underneath it all —
💭 A sense of shame, low self-worth, or the feeling that something’s just… off.
These are the kinds of things I work with.
And if you’re feeling distressed but can’t point to a clear reason? That matters too.
You don’t need to explain your pain for it to be valid.
Clients describe me as reflective, warm, flexible — and sometimes funny 🙂
Therapy with me is never one-size-fits-all. Depending on what you need, our work might include:
🧘 Learning emotional regulation skills
🧠 Psychoeducation and insight
💛 Simply holding space for your pain
🎨 Creative approaches — like visualisation or parts work
🌿 Gentle somatic work — noticing what your body is holding and learning to respond with care
🌱 Exploring childhood patterns and how they still show up today
🪴 Building self-compassion and learning to soften that inner critic
🔄 …or a combination of all the above
Practice description
My approach is integrative and trauma-focused. I'm trained in:
🧠 Humanistic integrative counselling
🌿 IFS (Internal Family Systems)
🧩 DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy)
I also draw inspiration from:
🌀 Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and Somatic Experiencing
💫 Attachment-based therapy, EMDR, and group therapy approaches
My work is shaped by the insights of trauma experts like Bessel van der Kolk, Deb Dana, Pat Ogden, Janina Fisher, Stephen Porges, and Richard Schwartz. While I don’t always use these models explicitly, they’re deeply woven into how I think and how I work.
I’ll also bring in behavioural strategies when you're aiming for specific goals — whether that’s sleep, habits, relationships, or boundaries. In short, I’ll draw from what’s helpful, when it’s helpful.
Many of my clients have been through a lot, and I know that talking about yourself isn’t always easy.
Some people struggle to find the words. Others don’t even know where to begin.
I’ll meet you where you are — whether that means:
🎨 Using creative strategies to help you express what’s hard to say
🤲 Holding space for silence
🌱 Or offering gentle encouragement when you're feeling unsure
If you’re looking for a space where you can begin to make sense of things, heal, and grow — at your own pace and in your own way — please get in touch. I'd love to hear from you.
I work primarily with the Orthodox Jewish community, and most of my clients are young adults aged 18–30 — but all are welcome.
My first session
First sessions with me are super flexible and will depend on what you are after. If you are comfortable, we will chat about what brings you into therapy. I will also give you the opportunity to ask me questions about my practice, how I work, and to determine if I'm the right fit for you.
Beyond that, my goal is to develop and maintain positive rapport between us.
