About me and my therapy practice
Hey I am Kate, my journey into counselling began through my work in children's services, I loved working directly with people and wanted to return to the heart of that work - sitting alongside people, hearing their stories and supporting them through life's challenges.
I trained as a person centred counsellor to level 4 and work in an integrative way, bringing together different approaches and resources depending on what feels most helpful for each person.
Believing you are more than the difficulties you bring to therapy, I am interested in the whole person, your experiences, relationships, emotions, thoughts, body and ways you learnt to cope. My aim is to offer a space where you feel heard, understood and supported.
I have a particular interest in the mind body connection and how our nervous system influences the way we feel. I draw on somatic approaches, polyvagal theory, mindfulness, breathwork and meditation, helping clients explore what is happening internally with curiosity and compassion.
I am also interested in how past experiences can shape our present, including exploring patterns, protective parts of ourselves, self compassion and the relationship we have with ourselves.
I have a special interested in persistent pain and I am developing my knowledge and practice in areas including Pain Reprocessing Therapy and Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy, alongside wider bio-psycho-social approaches to understanding pain. I believe all pain is real, whilst recognising the powerful role the brain and nervous system can play in experiencing pain and the way we relate to it.
I practice from my home in a small village in Northamptonshire where nature is an important part of my work. The garden and changing seasons provide opportunities for grounding, mindfulness, reflection and connection. I believe nature can offer a valuable resource for slowing down, reconnecting with ourselves and creating space for awareness.
Practice description
I offer face to face, online and telephone counselling
online sessions are via zoom.
Face to face sessions are from my private practice in Quinton.
I offer walk and talk therapy. This can take place from my practice where we have access to countryside and forestry or in a convenient green space near you.
My first session
I believe that what makes therapy effective is the relationship that is built up between the counsellor and the client. Building a relationship where you feel seen and heard and are able to open up and share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment
I offer a brief complementary online or phone consultation to discuss your concerns. It is an opportunity to see whether we would be able to work together and to answer any questions that you may have. There is no obligation to return
If we both decide to work together then we would agree a therapeutic contract. Subsequent sessions are usually 50 minutes weekly, however we can discuss length and frequency
I offer a safe, confidential space. I will listen, value your uniqueness and meet you where you are in the moment. I will work alongside you to explore your individual experience at your pace, enabling you to find resolutions to the problems you may be facing.

I welcome;
Counsellors in training, concessionary rates available.
Recently qualified counsellors
Practitioners seeking a reflective and embodied supervisory relationship
Those open to creativity and humour
In supervision I draw on Hawkins and Shohet's Seven Eyes Model and integrate somatic awareness, ethical reflection and relational depth. Holding space for your client work and also your professional development.
If you are someone who works holistically, is curious about mind-body connection or who wants a supervision space that is relational, human and real we might be a good fit.
Practice description
As a person centred therapist I offer a non hierarchical, empathic and transparent supervisory relationship. Aiming to create a space where you feel safe enough to be vulnerable, brave enough to be challenged and supported enough to keep going when the work gets tough.
My style is:
Warm human and grounded
Creative and somatically aware
Humour inclusive, because supervision doesnt need to be heavy all the time
Ethically informed, reflective and encouraging
Curious about who you are as a practitioner.
I welcome therapist from a wide range of backgrounds, particularly those drawn to relational, holistic, body based or spiritually informed work.
If you are interested in inner child work, parts work, EFT, breathwork, movement and energy awareness or walk and talk therapy and using nature in sessions you will likely find my style familiar and supportive.

The first supervision session is a space to get to know each other and explore whether we are a good fit.

Your hopes for supervision and what felt helpful or unhelpful in the past.

A conversationa about ethical practice, self care and what support looks like to you
