About me and my therapy practice

There is no one way of living, and we will all find ourselves faced with challenges along the way. Sometimes, the help of an outside source can enable us to view things in a different light or explore in more depth, which is where counselling can be beneficial.

I believe no two people are the same, so how can a counselling approach be? For that reason, I am trained in various modalities to suit individual need. I believe the approach to counselling should be whatever fits your individual needs and circumstances, which we can explore together.

I am a qualified person-centred counsellor working in an integrative way to suit individual need. I have an MSc in Counselling & Psychotherapy, and I am also a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (BAPAM).

Additionally, I am a Mindfulness facilitator, and I also have a Level 3 qualification as a Practitioner working in the Sexual Violence Sector, and additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I also have a background working for Rape Crisis UK, and extensive experience working with with chronic pain and health conditions, specifically working for MS Society as well as being registered with MS UK.

I also have an extensive background in the arts sector, using arts based approaches in my counselling work when appropriate, and working with performers and individuals working within the arts sector.

I regard my role as a Counsellor to be a real privilege. Meeting people from all walks of life and being a small part of their journey is incredibly special.

Practice description

I offer a free initial 15 minute telephone or video consultation.

I believe the therapeutic relationship (the relationship between you and your counsellor) to be vital, so always choose a counsellor who seems the right fit for you, and if that could possibly be me then I look forward to hearing from you to book in your free consultation.

My first session

After the initial consultation, if you decide we could be a good fit we will look at booking in a first session.

During our first session we will have a chat about what has brought you to counselling, and while we do this I will carry out an initial assessment so we can be sure we are working in a way that is both comfortable and beneficial.

I do not charge an additional fee for an assessment, it is covered under the standard session fee. I also ask for some paperwork to be completed prior to our first meeting in order to save time in the first session.
