About me and my therapy practice
My name is Siobhán Snowden. The pronouns I use are she/they and I identify as queer and neurodivergent. I am a senior accredited member of the BACP and advanced accredited Gender Sexuality Relationship Diversity therapist.
I work for a London NHS trust, as a tutor on a level 7/MA psychotherapy training course and in private practice.
My private practice is located at two London therapy centres.
I work with children and adults and can use more creative approaches if this works for you and the way you communicate and process your experience.
I have a BA (hons) in Humanistic Counselling and PG Dip/M.Ed in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy as well as a PCE-CfD NICE approved qualification
Practice description
My humanistic training modality: centres around prioritising a therapeutic relationship which is built on the belief in our capacity to grow and fulfil our lives through self-awareness. Working with you with emphasis on authenticity and personal responsibility. I will not direct you to talk about what I think you should ‘fix’ or ‘solve’ but to explore what connects us to our experience and because of this it is important to add that I take a pluralistic stance to my work with you. This includes an ethical commitment to valuing diversity and a collaborative approach to a shared truth on how we develop our therapeutic relationship together. It is integral to maintaining a critical and reflective position in my work with you
Through a Social Justice and GSRD lens
Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversities. Gender, Sexual and Relationship Diversities. This acronym focuses all of these areas. An affirming framework encompassing a range of different experiences and identities. In practice this means, as a GSRD therapist, I demonstrate cultural humility and competence, I understand specific adverse effects of oppression and minority stress that are experienced and I will provide an affirming stance and therapeutic space for all gender, sexual and relationship identities. All these areas are where I have focused my training and continues to form part of my ongoing therapeutic development.
My practice operates through the lens of social justice.
Exploring and understanding our own experiences of systemic power imbalances, discrimination and oppression within societal systems. Our internal world cannot be separated from these systems. This framework values emotions, our personal relationships and a right for parity in the world we live in.
Topics I work with.
Sexuality, gender, relationships (O&P and kink affirming) uncertainty, feeling stuck, loss, our plurality of identities. A few example of the topics clients want to talk about.
