About me and my therapy practice

Deciding to seek therapy can seem like a daunting process. Not only are you bravely taking steps to face the challenges in your life, you are choosing to share your unique story, perhaps for the first time, with a complete stranger.

I am a counsellor, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a partner, a friend, a teacher, a fellow human-being who will offer to be with you in exploring the issues that you bring. You may be experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, life transitions, or another form of distress in the complex spectrum of human suffering, or maybe you want to discover more of who you are.

I offer a warm, compassionate and confidential space in which we can develop a therapeutic relationship based on trust and safety, where you can feel truly seen and heard. Whilst my aim is not to provide a solution to your problems, I hope to help you develop greater awareness, understanding and acceptance  of how and who you are, developing resilience, uncovering new meaning and potential for change.

Practice description

I am a humanistic psychotherapeutic counsellor trained in Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, person-centred and existential approaches.

In my practice, I creatively cater to the unique experience and needs of each client. I work with parts of the self; metaphor and imagery; clues from the body, such as bodily sensations and gestures; relational patterns that we notice in your personal life and between us in the therapy room.

I have worked with young people and students, women who have a history of trauma, and people experiencing a range of emotional and relational difficulties often at transitional points in their life.

As well as working in private practice in Brighton and Hove, I also work as part of an holistic vocal care centre based in Lewes, offering counselling to professional voice users and individuals experiencing voice-related issues.

50 minute sessions are weekly, can be face-to-face or online, and are offered on an open-ended or short-term basis.

My first session

The first session is for us to get a sense of each other - What is your story? What has brought you to seek therapy? What are your hopes and expectations of therapy? How do I work as a therapist? It is then for you to decide if I could be the right fit for you as your therapist.

I offer a reduced rate of £40 for an initial face-to-face session or a free 20-minute online consultation. If after we've met and you would like to continue working with me, my rate is £50-£60 per session.
