About me and my therapy practice

I am a down-to-earth psychodynamic counsellor working with adults, children and young people.

If you’ve been thinking about therapy but keep putting it off, or don’t particularly like the idea of “needing” it, I might be a good place to start.

You may have something specific you’d like to work through, such as anxiety, difficult relationships, trauma or a significant life change. Or perhaps things seem reasonably fine on the surface, but you have a nagging feeling that you could be happier, more confident or more at ease with yourself.

My approach is warm, curious and thoughtful. I believe that understanding ourselves, including the patterns and experiences that have shaped us, can help us make sense of difficulties in the present. Together we think about thinking and become inquisitive secretaries to the unconscious.

I have particular experience working with neurodivergent people, including those questioning or exploring a diagnosis. I offer a neuro-affirming space where we can think together about your experiences without assuming that anything about you needs to be fixed.

You don’t need to know exactly what you want from therapy before getting in touch. We can begin wherever you are.

Practice description

I have a cosy garden room in Chapmanslade with plenty of on street parking.

I respond promptly to enquiries.

Sessions are 50 minutes, weekly.

My first session

Getting in touch with a therapist can feel surprisingly difficult, particularly if you’ve never had counselling before. You’re welcome to contact me with any questions about how I work or whether therapy might be helpful for you. You can do this in whatever way feels right for you. Our society privileges speaking but not all of us want to make a phone call - you can text me, email, phone, whatsapp or find me on instagram @thechiefpatient

The first session is an initial conversation so that we can get a sense of whether working together feels right.
