About me and my therapy practice

Counselling Psychotherapist based in the Derby area. I offer a warm, non-judgemental space working compassionately through a wide range of mental health difficulties.

Have you been feeling overwhelmed, anxious or not quite sure? Maybe you've tried different things on your own, but you're feeling you need some extra help. Through therapy, we can work together to help you feel good and in control of your life. I currently have weekday availability and offer both face-to-face and online appointments. I also offer a free 20 minute telephone consultation, to make sure I am the right fit for you.

We can work either on a short-term or long-term basis, the choice is yours. Therapy is a collaborative process and I am committed to giving you a safe, confidential space to work through your goals. Some people enter therapy with a clear goal in mind that they would like to achieve. But if you're feeling unsure about the process, we can work together to create the right path for you.

Practice description

Training

I hold an MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Derby and I am a Registered Member (MBACP) of the BACP. I use an integrative approach, meaning I am trained in multiple modalities, offering a tailored experience. The three main approaches I use are CBT, person-centred and attachment theory.

I also complete regular CPD training courses.

Experience

I've gained experience working with a wide range of clients, working within a sixth form; an NHS staff counselling service and seeing various clients in private practice. I work with many issues including anxiety, low self-esteem, work-related stress and much more. If you are feeling lost or misunderstood, please get in contact so we can work together towards a happier, healthier you.

My first session

The first session involves exploring different aspects of your life, by looking into your therapy goals. There is no pressure or judgement in the first session, as you are welcome to go at your own pace.

Starting therapy can be a daunting experience, so I use an assessment in the first session to help provide structure and support. As mentioned, there is no pressure to share everything all at once. The therapy room is a safe space to develop trust and insight into oneself.
