About me and my therapy practice
My name is Rachael & I am a qualified Person-Centred Counsellor passionate about providing support to individuals, couples & families.
Are you Lost or Stuck with your emotions, is there a sadness that won’t shift. Are you angry or stressed but cannot find a reason for feeling this way & maybe it feels too difficult to talk in the usual way with friends & family? You are not alone and do not need to feel that you are. We can look at what’s going on for you together.
Relationship Counselling.
Are you in a relationship that feels different to the way you remember it being. Perhaps there is a lot of talking in the relationship, but still no one feels heard & no changes are being made. Therapy with me might offer the space you are both looking for to help you to understand what each of you need & to be supported in making changes together.
LGTBQ+ counselling informed.
Have you experienced difficulties in talking openly about sexual identity of yourself or someone else? Has there been a change in the family dynamics? Therapy with me provides space to talk openly about your thoughts and feelings.
Bereavement:
Before I began working privately I volunteered within a local organisation supporting those experiencing bereavement. I continue to support those who have lost loved ones through cancer, and work with people who have had a cancer diagnosis.
I understand it can be scary and lonely for everyone to hear those words. Therapy with me offers a space for you to explore feelings that you might not feel ready to share with your friends & family right now. I will offer you the space you need that allows you to be you.
Does any of the above sound like your experiences, would you like a safe space where you can be you. Then maybe reach out to me for an initial session. No obligation to book further sessions.
There are many reasons for accessing therapy. Reading this means you have taken the first step towards finding a Counsellor.

I am none directive & will not tell you what to do as I believe my clients know best about what they want from their therapy.
As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy I adhere to the BACP ethical framework, and I receive regular clinical supervision from an accredited practitioner.

My first session
In our first session i invite you to talk about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to gain from our work together. Within this time I will listen to you, offering a calm and non-judgemental presence. I will provide you with the information that you need to make an informed decision regarding your therapy during this session. You decide what you would like help or support with.
There is no expectation after this session for you to continue working with me. I recognise that choosing a counsellor is a personal experience. For you to get the support you are looking for you need to feel comfortable working with your therapist. You also need to feel you trust that therapist to hear & understand you.
In therapy there maybe times that you bring parts of yourself that you don't like. I will listen to these parts of you & together we will explore what changes feel acceptable to you.
Are you seeking a safe space as a couple but unsure where or how to begin. I offer an initial session, if you decide i am the right person for you we can discuss how as a couple you would like your sessions to progress.

About me and my therapy practice
I started life working with young people where I gained extensive experience of child development, as well as understanding many of the problems facing young people today. Later in life I worked with older people presenting with a variety of mental health issues which include addictions, dependency, loss, and bereavement.
Today I work not only with individuals but also couples. I recognise that relationships can be complex and as such often bring issues that can be difficult to navigate around. In therapy i offer a safe and none judgemental space where everyone has the opportunity not only to speak but also to be heard.
Choosing this profession was not a difficult decision for me as it was my own positive and personal experience as a client that led me to train as a person-centred therapist. I am passionate in my belief that everyone has the right to be their true selves, but I realise that on occasions this part of us becomes buried. Mostly we can manage life’s daily challenges, but I understand it can be difficult when we feel overwhelmed.
It’s important to choose a therapist who offers a non-judgemental and confidential space where you feel safe to unpack and explore emotions. Within my practice our therapeutic relationship will provide you with empathy, compassion, and acceptance.
Working together I can help you understand your thoughts and experiences better and so aid you in your personal growth and development.
As a person-centred therapist in today’s climate, I believe it is important to support those who otherwise would not have access to therapy. So, as well as my private practice I continue to volunteer within a local organisation offering bereavement support. Previous volunteer work has included working with those who have either a substance and or alcohol addiction

Making a choice to speak with a therapist is not easy and i understand this. In our first session together i will invite you to tell me a little about yourself and what brings you to therapy. If you feel able to tell me what your goals from therapy might be, i will listen without judgement. I will work with you and help you to slowly make the changes you need to reach your potential.
If you decide to continue with future sessions with me i will work with you at your pace. It is up to you how many sessions you have.
