About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes everything feels overwhelming, for all of us. There isn't a person on the planet who can thrive without someone to talk to. My hope is that I can provide you with a consistent, confidential opportunity to talk, to explore and to build your resources to allow you to live the life you truly desire.
My approach is based on the belief that while your past is an important part of who you are, it shouldn’t dictate your present or future. Let me tell you a bit about how I work.
I will begin our sessions by listening to your story (be it last week or twenty years ago) to really understand how it has personally affected you - no judgement, no advice, no hidden agendas. I will then offer you the opportunity to explore any old beliefs that might not be serving you well in the present, and in this way you will find that things start to change. Your relationships with others can improve, and perhaps more importantly your relationship with yourself.
I am very experienced at working with trauma and anxiety and can offer you some biological understanding of the way the mind and body work together. I hope that by understanding what your body goes through in times of stress, we can work together to make life easier to navigate in the future. The great thing about therapy is that you may notice it having an effect on all aspects of your life - relationships with colleagues, partners, family and friends. I am neuro-affirming and accepting of diversity, so please feel you can get in touch with any questions you might have prior to starting the counselling relationship.
We will work at whatever pace suits you and can explore creative options should you wish to work in this way.
I work in person with adult clients from a comfortable and private space in Copmanthorpe, York and also offer online appointments if you are elsewhere in the country or unable to attend in person.
