About me and my therapy practice
Person-Centred Counselling for Individuals & Couples | Farnham
Feeling overwhelmed, anxious or stuck?
Perhaps life has become difficult to manage, you're struggling with anxiety or low mood, or something from your past is continuing to affect you. You may feel that you're coping on the outside while finding things much harder on the inside.
Or perhaps it's your relationship that is struggling. You and your partner may be arguing more than you'd like, finding it difficult to communicate, feeling disconnected, or simply unsure how to move forward together.
I'm Holly, a person-centred counsellor working with individuals and couples in Farnham. I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what you're experiencing, without having to have all the answers.
I believe that feeling genuinely heard and understood can be an important first step towards change. We'll work together, at your pace, to explore what's happening for you, make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings, and consider what might help you move forward.
My experience and qualifications
I hold a BA (Hons) in Humanistic Counselling and practise from a person-centred foundation.
Alongside my individual counselling work, I have completed the Certificate in Couple / Relationship Therapy with The Grove Practice, London, which provides specialist training and 50 hours of CPD in working therapeutically with couples and relationships.
The training covers areas including relationship dynamics, communication, conflict, differing needs, attachment, desire and the patterns that can develop within relationships.
I also have experience supporting people with anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement and loss, domestic abuse, stress, self-esteem difficulties and significant life changes.
My previous work with Victim Support and a Carers' Charity has given me experience supporting people through particularly challenging circumstances.
Practice description
Counselling for individuals
I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, bereavement and loss, domestic abuse, stress, self-esteem difficulties, relationship difficulties and significant life changes.
You may feel overwhelmed, disconnected from yourself or unsure how to move forward. You don't need to know exactly what is wrong before starting counselling. We can begin with where you are now and take things from there.
My aim is to provide a safe and accepting space where you can speak openly about things that may be difficult to talk about elsewhere.
Couples counselling
Relationships can go through difficult periods for many different reasons. You may be experiencing repeated arguments, communication difficulties, feeling disconnected from one another, or struggling to understand each other's needs.
Sometimes couples find themselves caught in the same patterns and feel unsure how to move forward.
I offer couples counselling as a safe, confidential and balanced space where both partners can be heard. My role is not to take sides or decide who is right or wrong, but to help you explore what is happening within your relationship and understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
Couples counselling can provide an opportunity to slow things down, listen to one another differently and begin to communicate with greater understanding.
You don't have to be at breaking point to seek couples counselling. Some couples come because they want to address difficulties before they become more entrenched, while others seek support during a significant period of change.
My first session
Your first step
Free 20-minute introductory call
Finding the right counsellor is important, and I want you to feel comfortable with the person you choose.
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call before you decide whether to book counselling with me.
This gives you an opportunity to tell me a little about what's bringing you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and get a sense of whether I might be the right counsellor for you.
For couples, the call can also be an opportunity for you both to tell me a little about what has been happening in your relationship and what you would like support with.
There is no obligation to book further sessions.
What you can expect from counselling.
Starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you've never spoken to a counsellor before.
You don't need to prepare anything or know exactly what to say.
Our sessions provide a confidential space for you to talk, reflect and explore what is happening for you. I'll listen without judgement and help you make sense of what you're experiencing.
The relationship we build is central to my way of working. I want you to feel comfortable being yourself and to feel genuinely heard and respected.
