About me and my therapy practice
Hi I’m Laura, a psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor.
I was once told that there are two main things that contribute toward strong mental health. Feeling deeply loved (by self and others) and finding one’s purpose, (in a career, as a mentor or as a parent). In my 20 years of observing mental health I would say I see this being the case 100% of the time.
I have dedicated my life to understanding mental health and sharing insight to patients so that they can live their ‘best life’, feeling more alive and assured of themselves. Sometimes people come to visit me for a few sessions to gain some perspective or reassurance, especially if making a huge life decision or change.
Sometimes people stay with me for years, usually those who are feeling quite fragmented (chronic anxiety) or with addictions (eating disorder, substances or relationships) or those with insecure attachments where these individuals need a steady presence to regain a stronger ego-maturity.
My calming and charismatic approach will offer you the emotional and spiritual direction you need to help you choose the right path for you to feel authentic and happy, aligned with your sense of self and purpose.
Practice description
I have copious experience, especially in the addiction and personality disorder field (including EUPD) having worked for many years in the priory (world leading addiction clinic), The Surrey centre for Eating Disorder (UK) and in private practice. I have helped many patients find relief from anxieties, pain and sometimes life-threatening behaviours and mental health concerns.
If you are struggling with eating disorder, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, low self-esteem, OCD, difficulty in relationships or a sense that something isn’t quite right then I will work with you, in a collaborative style, guiding you through difficult times, towards feeling alive and reassured.
I currently work in private practice where I see both adult clients and young persons age 13+ face to face or by video call.
My first session
Our first session together is called an assessment and aims to understand further what has led you to seek therapeutic treatment. Assessments last 60-90 minutes and should help you decide whether you want to pursue therapy further and if I am the right therapist for you. If at this stage you choose to continue I will give you a contract to take home and consider, from then we will set up regular weekly meetings.
Assessments: £125
Psychotherapy adult: £100
Psychotherapy adolescent rate: £90
My work is very intuitive and nurturing, putting you at ease so that we can build a trusting and safe relationship.
Our therapy together will be mostly talking therapy and if you feel safe to do so, may involve more experiential therapy in arts, journaling and/or sand tray.
