About me and my therapy practice

Are you in your 40's or 50's and finding you're struggling? Perhaps you're feeling more anxious than you're ever felt, crying a lot and / or feeling as if the joy has gone from your life.

Maybe you're feeling thoroughly overwhelmed, wondering who you are, what's next in life, maybe even as if you're going mad?

This time of our lives can be a real time of change, perhaps children (if you had them) have left or are in the process of leaving home. We face the end of our fertility. For women symptoms of peri menopause and menopause may be wreaking havoc on you. We may be looking after ailing parents and / or dealing with the death of parents. There is a LOT going on physically, emotionally and practically!

This can be a point in life where some external support can be very helpful both in terms of dealing with how you're currently feeling and what is going on and also looking forward to the rest of your life and how you can make the most of it.

I am a registered therapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am trained in Integrative Counselling and Coaching.

Practice description

I work in an empathetic, warm and non-judgemental way. I work "integratively" which means I bring a range of approaches and tools with me, and tailor these to your needs. I'm originally trained in counselling and coaching and so bring these two approaches into my work.

I believe our 40's / 50's are a time not just of important biological changes (for us women) with their accompanying life impacts but a significant life transition. For many of us women, our 40’s and 50’s can, to some extent, be defined by a message about loss and change and the need and desire to redefine our selves. This time can be an opportunity to do something of a 'life inventory', to pause and reflect on where we are and what is really important to us and therefore, what that means practically, as we look to really make the most of the 'second' part of our lives.

My first session

We can have an initial (free) conversation to discuss what brings you to seek some support, what you would like to gain from it and for me to answer any initial questions you might have. This can be online or by phone.

What I can help with

Anxiety, Depression, Loss, Menopause, Stress

Types of therapy

Integrative, Person centred

Clients I work with

Adults

How I deliver therapy

About me and my therapy practice

For some women abortion is an experience which becomes a painful part of their lives, even if they felt they were making the right decision at the time.

I work with women who are struggling after an abortion whether it was a few months ago or many years ago. For some women an abortion can have an impact on them and their lives which is unexpected, or at least more significant than they thought it would be. For some there can be feelings of guilt, shame and anger as well as sadness; depression and anxiety may become issues. For some the experience can raise questions around self and identity.

I am a registered therapist with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I am trained in Integrative Counselling and Coaching.

Practice description

I use a framework and a number of steps flexibly to explore with you your emotions, these may include anger, shame and guilt as well as anxiety, depression and grief. We will work together to identify areas that we focus on and I will be guided by you in terms of what is most important to you.

I have over three years experience specialising in post-abortion therapy and spent a number of years volunteering for a north London charity focussed on this area.

I work in an empathetic, warm and non-judgemental way. I work "integratively" which means I bring a range of approaches and tools with me, and tailor these to your needs. I'm originally trained in counselling and coaching and so bring these two approaches into my work.
